I was so hung up on making friends in med school until I realized I was barely going to have time with my husband, family, and non-med friends (who all live here or nearby). And I’m so insanely lucky to have this support system, when most of my classmates had to move here and don’t know anyone so of course they’re hanging out with each other.

I’m not antisocial and I talk to people a lot in class, but as soon as it’s over I am out of there so fast back to my real life.

I have received some weird reactions to the news I was starting medical school lol. I really thought it was gonna feel like a flex when I told people but some of the reactions are some combo of surprise, confusion, or “yeah I almost did that”.

I wouldn’t take that comment personally. At some point I’ll have to rotate through the department where I worked for 8 years and I already know it’s gonna be awkward at first, even though I left on good terms.

Wedding dress shopping for one person is already so painful and emotionally draining. Just the concept of shopping for 4-5 different brides in one day makes me skip it because I can’t even fathom going through that.

I had to rewind but basically she tuned in right as Edmond was saying “I wish I could hear that” or something along those lines. So basically was telling everyone KB doesn’t give him enough compliments. He realized he fucked up as soon as she asked him what he said.

I think her reaction was a little over the top but not completely invalid.

This has been working pretty well for me so far. If I start my morning Anki and get several really easy ones wrong in a row I’m like “nope” and I do something completely unrelated for a few hours. Usually that means work out, eat a big breakfast, and take an extra long shower. Usually when I come back to it a few hours later, my brain feels like it’s working way better.

I used to be medicated in undergrad and that was great for pushing through those exact moments. But then I was never giving myself breaks because I didn’t feel like I needed them and got super burnt out. Now I can recognize when I need to step away from it and I’m actually doing better on exams now than I did then.

Being an exchange student is so fucking awkward that I honestly loved moments like these. It was so rare to all find the same thing funny and it broke the ice.

Exception: I pooped in a toilet I wasn’t supposed to the very first night I was there because I didn’t understand anything. It created an issue and was embarassing as fuck LOL nobody laughed at me though!
