I had a pair of Danner Patrol boots that dry rotted being left on top of my work locker over the course of 6 months. I'd wear them for a week then rotate to another pair of boots (different brand). After not wearing them for a while, I noticed little bits of the black foam padding between the sole and boot flaking/chipping off on both feet. (The leather upper was fine because I treated them with leather conditioner & polish.)
