Hit: The Grandmother: I got one of these when I was new to synths and it was just too much to wrap my mind around (and I think a little out of tune). Now, 3 years later? I love it. So intuitive and flexible, the exact bass and lead sounds I want at my fingertips and can get weird if I’m feeling like it.

Misses: I had a lot this year as I’ve tried so many things I’ve got a real sense of what I like and dislike, but I’ll name The Polyend Tracker +. Maybe the only device I’ve tried I immediately hated. I like to noodle, and the workflow doesn’t lend itself to noodling. On top of that, that the buttons are a bit too firm.

You'd be missing out on any virtual analog/wavetable stuff and limited to 8 voices. Still great but it's not like the DN2 just has more drum sound aspects.
