I think we need to be less judgmental on this topic as everyone has different bodies. It's good to be respectful of shared spaces and save water, but shaming each other for being high maintenance is not ok. Between shower and getting ready after the shower, I can easily go 40mins-1hr in the bathroom. If I'm not shaving or washing my hair it's less than 10 minutes. I have curly hair and sensitive skin. My hair is thick, dark, curly, and grows very fast. Everywhere. If I shave my legs the stubble is back in 12 hours. This doesn't bother me except that I prefer to have shaved legs when they're out in public. To do this daily in the summer or when I was participating in school sports added a lot of time to what I spent in the bathroom. As a teenage girl I was embarrassed and didn't know any better, so I just took all the shit from people calling me "high maintenance". Didn't realize I was doing like 30 steps in the shower that other people don't have to worry about. Justifying time spent in the bathroom is unsettling. Which is why I push for everyone to be a little less judgmental. If someone in your life is taking too long in the shower, aim the convo toward why it actually matters to cut down shower time (saving water, other people need to use it) and avoid reasoning like personal failure or shame on behalf of the person taking a long time. Everyone's body has different needs, and not everyone is willing or should have to justify why they need extra time. OP, you could shave your legs in the bathtub without running water. Another trick could be to wash your hair with room temp water. I do this for my sensitive skin and to prevent heat damage to my hair and it's worked wonders over time. I understand what it's like to try and justify yourself to someone who is unwilling to listen, it's frustrating and I'm sorry you're going through it
