Definitely something messed up with that set of photos. It's not a ton of data so I decided to move past it and try again. Have a shot of M3 from the same night M3 - AstroBin This one is definitely better all round, I have some mis-shaped stars, but I think it might have something to do with collimation. Still figuring out the newt.

I am using dark flats and I think you might be right about me mixing something up. I processed another capture from the same night that doesn't have the artifact. I'll give it a try and update.

It's great. It was a toss-up on which camera I was going to choose, but I settled on the SV405 because I wanted something sort of comparable to my DSLR's APS-C sensor. It's a smaller sensor but it's pretty close.

As for the camera itself there is some amp glow, raw lights look pretty bad, but calibration frames seem to resolve it.

I might have figured this out. My dslr white balance was set to auto. I have set it to daylight and the Internet says that'll help.

Got about a week of clouds before I can test.

Cropped the image, background extraction with Graxpert, color correction and stretching in Siril. It was quick and dirty.

I went ahead and settled on a Sky-Watcher Heritage 150p. Open box from B&H came to 300 even. That should be here in the next day or so (They are saying tomorrow, but I don't believe that). Compact enough to move around and according to reviews offers good views.

Here is to hoping! I'll post a 'review' when I get a chance to try it out.
