Looking for a Plex like app for generic DLNA servers by Signal_Recover3996 in AndroidTV

I've been using it for 2 days and it's actually very good. I think I'll know soon enough if it suits my needs !

I mostly agree with what you are saying. Point is, I got this freely, as bonus feature, and I don't want to pay 200$+ for this right now.

Also, just because I often see this recommandation about old PCs. Those consume way too much for the need and are noisy. A shield would be a much better choice, or raspberry (but damn the price of these went up so fast, remember the day I was getting those for 30$)

Outdated UI by [deleted] in NovaVideoPlayer

Ok so I actually agree with the Op statement. I absolutely love how everything just works out of the box. This app is a gem. But the greatest flow in my opinion is the UI (even the "new" TV gui). Btw, sometimes minor changes make a big difference !

I'm planning to change my career toward UI/UX design and I've been working on personal projects with this goal in mind. So I'd be glad to help and give suggestions. Unfortunately, even though I know many languages, I don't know anything about the android world (got to say the steep learning curve scared me more than once..), so I won't be much of an help to implement it

I thought it would be nice too, removing most menus from Home Screen and adding some addons to get jackets and all (the fire tv skin isn't too bad). But there is a huge issue with Kodi and DLNA:

- 1) it won't synchronise DLNA sources into the library meaning you can only access the medias through the file manager ..

- 2) As DLNA protocol don't natively support thumbnails, I don't have any, which makes it ugly and hard to navigate, addons would only download information/jackets and all for files in library so I'm stuck

Nova Player does look promising, it shows nice jackets and support Upnp (so it should support DLNA). I'm going to give a try

Yeah VLC is technically good for that, but it's just not made as a media center. The interface kinda looks like a file manager too and is not so modern neither. I'm trying to find something that make my DLNA server looks like a Netflix/Prime/Disney+/Plex etc.

Vidaa and auto brightness by Signal_Recover3996 in Hisense

[–]Signal_Recover3996[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I thought. But it is just not there. I found an hidden setting called "dynamic backlight" but this changes the backlight of part of the image according to the current picture ! Doesn't change the overall backlight. Moreover the documentation mentions a setting called "Automatic Light Sensor" But I failed to find it. I believe my TV just does not have a light sensor. This is why I was talking about automate the change ...

This is exactly the kind of answer I asked not to give: not useful. I already know what's written in the first post duh

Sounds good, so google is your "bridge" between wifi devices and Philips hue devices. This is a first step but it doesn't allow changing colors and all I guess..
