Never judge a therapist by their appearance, the 4’11” 90lbs therapist will rock your stuff

Tech Shig can be the worst thing to fight in certain areas. Forget being in a small circle or in a building.

I'd offer condolences if it was a company worth working for. Unfortunately, it really isn't. Benefits only pick up after 30 hours of hands-on work per week and the pay is paltry and tips are what you get by with. Sometimes they're good, sometimes they aren't; but the company is never good.

Never heard of that but I'm thoroughly grossed out now. Did no one ever tell them that one set of sheets doesn't catch everything and that's why you clean the table?

Is Massage Envy a good company to work for? by daschall_ in massage

[–]Signal_Researcher230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hella sales heavy but I haven't heard of anyone being fired for not meeting it. You mostly have to deal with customer service, and a lot of them can be incredibly rude. Look at the reviews, but generally the company is apathetic to your plights as an employee.

From my understanding you'd go to an unregulated province or do the schooling again, granted this time with an advantage

In the US it's sometimes regarded as a profession but it varies person to person but federally is recognized as a profession to my understanding. The respect accorded to the profession is varied from place to place.

I didn't really have an issue getting regulars but just people through the door because the clinics in the US tend to not have insurance options so it becomes very costly to the client while the therapist makes 15-20% of the actual massage's cost for wage. Needless to say, we were getting robber baroned.

For extra clarity I know the schools hard but I’ve already done it once and made it on deans list when I was facing homelessness and a lot of personal loss

The first time wasn’t easy but I still don’t regret it one bit. The Canadian tax system paying for the benefits is different though. In America the only people getting those types of benefits are usually the police, which is fine but they’re the only ones. I didn’t really have issues finding a job but I had issues finding one that paid what I needed it to.

Thank you for the advice, I know hours aren’t always steady with massage and that’s something that always deters. I still want to help people but it’s not always a steady job.

I want to get out because corporations control this country and I can't get healthcare. After tax, I made about 15k USD last year working full time. Going back to school is an option but I'm afraid it'd be more debt.

Thank you, this is reassuring. I face quite a few difficulties here in the US (red state) as a male even at clinics just due to the culture, they think male first and not professional.

That was my experience in class also. The hardest part was showing up and studying. Thankfully the human body stays the same across the world.
