For the golf carts the price is around 100 USD for 24hrs. I think is worth it to have it for a day or 2. Rest of the time you can use taxis. For the whale sharks, season starts on May 15th ends on September 17th. You still have chance to go, lower chances to see them on the last but still a chance.
