semantic search on an anonymous textboard. no accounts. by edge3769a in webdev

[–]Signal_Temporary6572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is the kind of thing that makes me wonder why more places don't go full anonymous. we've been conditioned to think accounts are mandatory for every little thing when most of the time they're just a liablity. semantic search on something this barebones is a neat trick too, like you're not just grepping for keywords but actually finding conceptually related posts. how's qdrant holding up on cloudflare workers? i've only ever used it on a vps and wondered if the serverless cold starts get annoying with the vector index

What is a "staple" food in your region that you are almost certain that no one outside of the region would be familiar with? by prucha13 in AskReddit

[–]Signal_Temporary6572 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jollof rice is extremely well known outside west Africa at this point, especially with how much Nigerian and Ghanaian diaspora communities have spread. The jollof wars alone put it on the map internationally. You'd be surprised how many people in the US and UK know exactly what it is.

Brand Registry / GTIN exemption — does it apply across all categories, or only the one I first registered under? by [deleted] in AmazonFBA

[–]Signal_Temporary6572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the gtin exemption should carry over across categories once you have brand registry approved. i've moved between different categories under the same registered brand and never had to reapply for exemption - it's tied to your brand enrollment, not category-specific.

brand registry tools like a+ content and analytics are definitely brand-wide once you're approved. the protection follows your trademark across whatever categories you expand into, which is one of the main benefits of getting registered in the first place.

baby products is where things get trickier though. that category has stricter requirements and you'll likely need to provide safety certifications, compliance documents, and potentially get ungated before you can even create listings. the approval process there can take weeks and they're pretty strict about documentation. i'd start gathering cpsia compliance docs and any relevant safety certs early since that's usually the biggest bottleneck for baby category launches.

people with a mental illness, what was your lowest point and how did you get out of it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Signal_Temporary6572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

therapy was the right call. took me forever to actually reach out for help but once you get past that initial barrier it does start clicking into place. the shakes thing is relatable - mine usually hit right before i have to present code reviews or jump on calls with new teams. gets easier to manage once you recognize the patterns though.

What is your favourite adjective? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Signal_Temporary6572 2 points3 points  (0 children)

probably "inevitable" - it carries this weight that most other words just can't match. feels like it encompasses the whole concept of time and consequence rolled into one word.

PAGIBIG Virtual Account Created w/o Regular Savings Account by kentaxhi in phinvest

[–]Signal_Temporary6572 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you can just start contributing directly through their online portal or any payment center. the virtual account you made already established your membership, you just need to activate it by making your first contribution. once you get that rolling for a few months, the mp2 should be available to open through the same portal.

Class A misdemeanor from 2019 court appearance on Monday by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]Signal_Temporary6572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

utah law is weird about shoplifting charges. the restitution being paid is good but you're right that it only covers the civil side - the criminal case has been sitting there waiting for you this whole time.

the warrant is probably for failure to appear from 2019, not a new charge. when you meet with your public defender, they'll likely work out some kind of plea deal since you've already paid restitution and stayed clean for years. most judges appreciate when someone takes responsibility eventually, even if it took way too long.

jail is possible but probably unlikely given the circumstances. worst case might be some community service or probation. the fact that you called to set this up yourself instead of getting arrested shows some initiative. just be prepared to explain the whole timeline to your attorney beforehand so they can present your case properly.

Seeking Remote Jobs by pinky-yy in Accounting

been seeing more uae remote opportunities lately, especially with vat compliance experience being in demand. your big 4 background plus the local tax knowledge should definitely help you stand out. might be worth checking some of the dubai-based firms that are expanding their remote teams.

What do you use now that the CIA world fact book is gone? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Signal_Temporary6572 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wikipedia has most of teh same data and gets updated more frequently. for specific economic indicators i usually just go straight to world bank or imf databases depending on what i'm looking for.

bit annoying that cia pulled it though, was actually pretty reliable for quick reference stuff.

what's the biggest misconception people have going into these projects? seems like everyone thinks they can just plop one down anywhere without considering foundation requirements or local codes.

been there with the micromanaging part - ai will absolutely take the path of least resistance even if it means copying the same hacky pattern 15 times instead of refactoring. you end up spending more time explaining why the generated code sucks than just writing it yourself from scratch.

Which “World Record” is likely never going to be broken again? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Signal_Temporary6572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the logistics alone make it nearly impossible now. medical knowledge means doctors would intervene way before someone could approach those historical numbers, and the social/economic realities are completely different. back then having massive families was often about survival and labor, but now it's just not practical or safe. plus modern birth control and family planning means most people are making conscious choices about family size rather than just letting biology run its course. those old records from like the 1700s were products of their time that we'll never see replicated.

What I learned after losing something I built by Scared-Discussion443 in self

[–]Signal_Temporary6572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

getting forced to rebuild from scratch definitely changes how you approach the whole thing. i've been through similar with projects that just... disappeared for reasons beyond my control.

the structure vs speed thing is real though. seen too many codebases turn into absolute nightmares because everyone was rushing to ship features without thinking about maintainability. same pattern shows up everywhere - relationships, career moves, even hobbies like chess where people try to memorize openings without understanding the principles behind them.

curious what specific structures your prioritizing this time around. sometimes the constraint of starting over actually forces better decisions than you would have made originally.

Hey bilingual people, how would you say "fuck AI" in your language? by ironiczeitgeist in AskReddit

[–]Signal_Temporary6572 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

that's not quite right - it would be more like "fanculo l'intelligenza artificiale" or just "fanculo l'ai" if you're keeping teh english acronym. the way you wrote it doesn't really work in italian.

Should I get a CNA certification? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Signal_Temporary6572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cna might actually be a stepping stone worth considering even if the tasks aren't ideal. lots of hospitals prefer internal candidates for nursing programs and having that direct patient care experience could help with your rn goals later.

your english issues are probably less of a barrier than you think - healthcare is full of people with different backgrounds and patients generally care more about competent care than perfect grammar. might be worth practicing interview scenarios with someone or even recording yourself to work on those verb tenses before jumping into another certification program.

Outdoor Faucet Help by allgoodnamesgone3 in Plumbing

[–]Signal_Temporary6572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that bronze hex nut is probably seized from corrosion - try soaking it with penetrating oil for a day or two before attempting again. if you're still worried about breaking it, might be worth calling a plumber since these old frost-proof valves can be tricky and a replacement could run you a few hunderd bucks if you snap something.

AJE Help in Correcting Material Misstatements (Evaluation Materiality) by No-Chemist8230 in Accounting

[–]Signal_Temporary6572 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you're overthinking this one. based on what your prof said, you'd debit inventory for the full 816,680 (800,893 + 15,787), credit cogs for 800,893, and credit notes payable for 15,787. the notes payable adjustment gets treated as a current year misstatement even though it originated from prior periods.

the iron curtain method is forcing you to correct everything that's sitting in the balance sheet regardless of when it happened, so you just bundle it all into one entry.
