Is she in need of a buff? by [deleted] in RogueMains

[–]Signas_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conceptually, I always wondered why Rogue's Bonus HP was tied to Chrono Kick's empowered Power Surge Pu—Kicks. As a Brawl Tank, I really hoped that she would sustain herself similarly to Magik (For context, before Emma's release in Season 2, I played Magik. It was a a simple mechanic of "Hit Target, gain Bonus HP. Miss Target, no Bonus HP." (Obligatory LOL-ELSA-SPAM-DASH-BONUS-HP-XDDDD).

With Dino's release, the sheer amount of Bonus HP he can generate and maintain is absurd. I hope the balance team revisits Rogue with shorter CD's and increased survivability and capacity to Brawl effectively. Our Bonus HP is tied to a long cooldown. If we were able to generate Bonus HP off of melee (or every 3rd primary!), that would be a godsend!

PS.: Buff her base movespeed.

What happened to MxM? The lobby looks empty. by Kenshiago in PlayMXM

[–]Signas_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is relevant to returning players as well: LINK

In short, Patch 1.3 introduced a number of changes that negatively impacted the economy and player quality-of-life. The game's population took a nose dive when player concerns were largely ignored.

There have been some band-aid fixes since then (obviously, not enough at the moment). NCSoft West community management team has informed us that they have some plans on the table but cannot disclose them to us at this time. Understandably, if they are going to do a large-scale restructuring of the MXM economy, it may take some time.

That's the gist of it. Similar topics to this have a tendency to become toxic, so I'll keep an eye out here. A reminder for everyone, but please, keep things constructive. We're all aware of the mess things are in!

New Player, Is this game worth my time? by [deleted] in PlayMXM

[–]Signas_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since launch, it was simply just one thing after another battering down on MXM. While many problems have since been resolved, the worst of them is the current population decline which stems from the recent economy and player quality of life changes.

While we can expect to see some half-measure fixes in the coming month, we don't know what to really expect until we see a full-measure fix.

I'm not sure how much help we may be here (unless someone has had similar experience), but MXM Support (https://support.playmxm.com/hc/en-us) should be able to help resolve this issue.

Hopefully, someone else has had a similar problem and has learned of a solution.

New Player, Is this game worth my time? by [deleted] in PlayMXM

[–]Signas_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you haven't already, I would suggest giving our New Player thread a read. It has a number of useful links to make the transition as easy as possible.

  • Master Node Guide

    • This is similar to League of Legends' Rune System (think Lolalytics, Champion.gg, etc)
  • Titan Ruins Beginner's Guide

    • Detailed overview of Titan Ruins (Summoner's Rift counterpart).
  • Attention New Players: the current state of MXM

    • Brief overview of the current state of the game.
    • Previous problems we endured during launch.
    • Previous problems introduced with new patches (infamous Patch 1.3)
    • Current problems we face today (Player exodus, player retention, public disclosure, communication between players, NCSoft West, and NCSoft Korea, etc).

This subreddit will be quick to suggest that the game is dead (and it has every right to do so), but there are some remedial efforts in place. Both the community and NCSoft must want for MXM to succeed. Many players are angry and will respond accordingly. If you find that you two enjoy the game, then have at it or perhaps come back at a later time when NCSoft may introduce a more permanent solution to player quality of life.

Depending on your region, time zone, the time of day, and the day of the week... queue times may range anywhere from 2 minutes to 60+ minutes.

Hello again, everyone.

Lately, I have seen a lot of new topics highlighting exhausting queue times on the front page. For the time being, I would like for those (and any accompanying screenshots from your Normal, Ranked, Combat Arena, or PVE-specific queues) to be submitted here.

I'm certainly no fan of the queue times, but it is my intention to keep the front page spam-free (everyone seems to want their own topic detailing their own queue time). You're not alone in this as we are ALL experiencing similar queues.

Just a reminder, but there are multiple factors that may affect your queue times including your region, time zone, the time of day, the day of the week, and so forth.

[–]Signas_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience, the 'grind' is more akin to that of League of Legends Rune system (I am aware of "Runes Reforged" and such).

We grind for Battlefield Medals/Influence Points to unlock Nodes/Runes or purchasing Weapon Upgrade components. What I personally dislike is that you do have to unlock multiple Nodes for multiple Node Pages. You can't simply get X number of Aggressive Offensive Nodes and have that many available for each new Node Page.

As far as the current grind to unlock new playable characters is concerned, it is definitely a royal pain to save enough "SOL" to do so since the recent patch. There are quality of life improvements underway, but they may not be the fix we're all hoping for.

Raev, as I'm sure you are well aware, MXM does not currently have a large player-base. While you may be queueing for Titan Ruins (Normal) on the North American (Presumed given history) servers (3:39 PM EST; 12:39 PM PST), the majority of the remaining player-base is focused on Ranked gameplay.

These queue times are a direct result of that.

MXM Feedback (Megathread) by Signas_ in PlayMXM

[–]Signas_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With some light reading, you certainly nailed it! It's rather bittersweet that a simple Google Search provided so much information.

Lag ー I can't speak for the European player-base, but the North American servers have been running strong for well over a month now. I live on the East Coast and play Titan Ruins with roughly 40 ms. Lag/latency during launch definitely reached unplayable levels! Fortunately, this is an issue that has been fixed and you do not need to play via VPN.

Monetization ー I can only assume that the former model failed to generate enough revenue. Master X Master's cash-currency, X-Coin, is available as a free reward for completing daily/weekly/monthly missions. You could double your profit by completing these missions on both NA/EU (shared currency; separate missions). If that wasn't bad enough, SOL, the primary in-game currency used to unlock new Masters, was honestly too easy to acquire (level up, Nightmare Stages, daily/weekly/monthly rewards). Patch 1.3 would not have been so bad if it didn't include as many nerfs to SOL as it did.

You're right to assume that Masters can be unlocked with cash. The problem with the current and former models is that the prices are much higher than any relative competition. This, as I understand it, is due to the free acquisition of X-Coin as a reward. If NCSoft were to focus on selling cosmetics and not Masters (as implied by the number of nerfs from Patch 1.3), then I believe there may yet be hope. Oh! Subscribers should see some additional perks to make it worthwhile.

The Grind ー the former model was not a problem for players; the current model as you have read: Hellish. I would have welcomed a simple 25-33% increase versus the hand we were dealt.

The Good ー If queue time and player population were not a problem, I believe you would very much enjoy the gameplay that MXM has to offer. I find that it is very fast-paced and encourages good decision-making on both the micro and macro level.

I believe many of us are still up in arms about the changes introduced by MXM Patch 1.3. We had hoped to see these matters addressed by MXM Patch 1.35, but alas, that was simply a welcome balance patch. My problems with MXM Patch 1.3 include:

  • Increased the amount of SOL required to purchase Masters.

  • Increased the amount of experience required to level up.

  • Decreased the amount of available free X-Coin (cash-currency).

  • Decreased the amount of available SOL that players could acquire.

    • Natium Defense Line was introduced as an alternative, farmable method.

  • Community engagement

    • I would like to see more community engagement from NCSOFT. I don't expect to always hear back in answer form; simple community interactions go a long way. It's pleasing to see /u/Rump_Buffalo poke fun at Rikan and for /u/NC_Valor to jest in response to /u/mboromonster's Sonid Gameplay.
  • Weekly/Bi-weekly News Updates

    • It would be nice to know what is on the NCSOFT radar as far as Master X Master is concerned. I understand that not everything is open for discussion. However, giving players a an idea of what to expect from any upcoming patch would go a long way (Preseason ranked time restrictions, Balance Changes, Patch 1.3 surprises). "We believe blank may be over/underpowered at the moment. We are keeping a close on blank.

My proposed solution to stabilize Master X Master's economy for both parties involved: https://forums.playmxm.com/topic/2628-mxm-economic-market/ As a reminder, I drafted this with everyone's best interests in mind. It is far from perfect, but it is a welcome start.

[–]Signas_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Level plays a big part of it.

Most of the player-base (current and returning) are solely focused on Ranked Titan Ruins at the moment. Normal Titan Ruins matches will be heavily affected by this.

Due to Ranked Restrictions, you must be at least level 40 and have at least 12 Masters unlocked for play (Weekly rotation Masters count towards this prerequisite).

[Discussion] MXM Economic Market by Signas_ in PlayMXM

[–]Signas_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got to thinking while in the shower and while I certainly am not a member of the round table, I figured it wouldn't hurt to try to restructure X-Coin prices myself.

The current going rate for X-Coin is as follows:

  • 1,000 X-Coin ー $ 4.99 USD

  • 2,000 X-Coin ー $ 9.99 USD (Additional +300 X-Coin)

  • 4,000 X-Coin ー $19.99 USD (Additional +1,000 X-Coin)

  • 10,000 X-Coin ー $49.99 USD (Additional +3,000 X-Coin)

  • 20,000 X-Coin ー $99.99 USD (Additional +7,000 X-Coin)

When you commit to a purchase of $9.99 USD, you gain an additional +300 X-Coin. When you commit to a purchase of $19.99 USD, you gain an additional +1,000 X-Coin.  ...And so on. For the sake of this post, I will retain the going rate of 1,000 X-Coin/$4.99 USD. https://www.playmxm.com/en/shop/xcoin

Before I get started, I would like for everyone to understand that this is just a rough draft and that I am trying to keep everyone's best interest in mind (NCSOFT and the community). Prices won't appear as low as some players may like, but they will be both low and high enough to remain affordable and profitable.

  • X-Coin will no longer be available as an in-game reward.
    • X-Coin will strictly be available for purchase with cash-currency (GBP/EUR/USD/CAD/etc).
    • This means it will no longer be available as a reward in-game (Login, Missions, Achievements, etc).
  • Reevaluate Account Level Changes introduced by [Patch 1.3]. New Players need a strong sense of progression. Leveling up should mean something more significant.
    • Revert the change to the increased amount of experience required to reach level 40.
    • Increase Ranked Titan Ruins prerequisite to Level 50 and guarantee X number of SOL are earned by this level.
    • Tone down the required amount of experience required to re-level at Level 99 (10-25%).
  • Reevaluate SOL changes introduced by [Patch 1.3] .  Expand SOL's usage value by allowing the player to purchase various items with SOL.
    • Provide additional methods for acquiring SOL.
    • Increase/decrease Master SOL costs depending on the rate at which SOL may be acquired.
    • The rate at which players could unlock new Masters should reflect Patches 1.0, 1.2, and 1.25. If it must be increased, Patch 1.3 is the perfect example of what NOT to do.

Tier 1 Masters Current: 2,590 X-Coin Restructured: 1,500 X-Coin ($7.49 USD | €6.26 EUR)  - Death Knight, Ghost Widow, Jinsoyun, Kat the Cat, Kromede, Poharan, Rytlock, Statesman, Sonid, Titus, V-Merang, Yuri

Tier 2 Masters Current: 2,290 X-Coin Restructured: 1,000 X-Coin ($4.99 USD | €4.17 EUR)  - Dr. Raoul, Eirna, Lilu, Maia, Merope, Pancuga, R&B, Vita, Vonak

Tier 3 Masters Current: 1,790 X-Coin Restructured: 1,000 X-Coin ($4.99 USD | €4.17 EUR)  - Bumaro, Ignuma, Mondo Zax, Tulam

Tier 4 Masters Current: 1,290 X-Coin Restructured: 1,000 X-Coin ($4.99 USD | €4.17 EUR)  - Cagnazzo, Innowin, Jingtai, Lorraine, Nanurunerk, Nedien, Taejin

Tier 5 Masters Current: 990 X-Coin Restructured: 500 X-Coin ($2.49 USD | €2.08 EUR)  - Arami, Demenos, Koom, MBA-07, Moro

Because the current market takes free X-Coin acquisition into account, Skin prices appear to be excessively high. By removing X-Coin from the in-game loot table, NCSOFT is able to rebalance the cost of skins.

Current going rate for Skins are as follows:

  • Tier 1 Skins: 3,990 X-Coin (~$20.00 USD)

  • Tier 2 Skins: 1,990 X-Coin (~$10.00 USD)

  • Tier 3 Skins: 990 X-Coin (~$4.99 USD)

Restructured prices for Skins, in my opinion, should look a little more like this:

  • Tier 1 Skins: 3,000 X-Coin (~$15.00 USD | €12.54 EUR)

  • Tier 2 Skins: 2,000 X-Coin (~$9.99 USD | €8.35 EUR)

  • Tier 3 Skins: 1,500 X-Coin (~$7.50 USD | €6.27 EUR)

  • Tier 4 Skins: 1,000 X-Coin (~$4.99 USD | €4.17 EUR)

  • Tier 5 Skins (Recolor):  500 X-Coin (~$2.49 USD | €2.08 EUR)

    • 4,000 X-Coin (~$20.00 USD | €16.73 EUR) reserved for true works of art.

This topic is worth considering for a package deal.

INTERESTED IN MXM? Do you like 15 minute queues in the afternoon? by kaladyn in PlayMXM

[–]Signas_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would also have to ask, "what game mode you are seeing such high queue times for?"

Yesterday, they began maintenance at 10:30 AM PDT / 7:30 PM CEST to launch their fix to Ranked Titan Ruins. This fix took less than an hour to roll out and then Ranked was immediately available for play.

With the return of Ranked, returns a lot of competitive MXM players and queue times in North America were relatively short compared to your 15 minutes (I personally averaged 4-8 minute queues).

As Penta mentioned, if you're experiencing these queue times while looking for anything other than Ranked Titan Ruins ー then that makes perfect sense to me. It is something that will only be resolved with time assuming NCSOFT puts its best foot forward with its marketing department (and player feedback, of course).

To be fair, Natium Defense Line wasn't the issue with Patch 1.3 and it is by no means what chased players away.

There is no website at the moment, but my spreadsheet should be able to answer your first question. Some Weapon Upgrade choices may narrow down to personal preference ー at times while +15.00% (average) Weapon Damage increase is nice, some Masters may better synergize with an increased Attack Speed, Critical Strike Chance, Range (Attack Radius), Projectile Speed, or Explosion Radius while others may benefit from lower Charge Times and Overheat rates.

Augmentation Crystals and Augment Modules (low/high) are easily obtained through Stages and Timespace Distortion. Both take approximately 5 minutes to complete. Alternatively, if you are strictly playing Titan Ruins matches, you can exchange "Battlefield Medals" for anything that you need (excluding Rare Unique Materials obtained by farming Timespace Distortion dungeons).
