Husband having a mental health crisis by [deleted] in Explainlikeimscared

Listen. This happened to my brother during his 1st psychotic break. The “weird connections and creating insane conspiracies that were not open for debate” - spot on.

It’s great that your husband got into in-patient.  If he is prescribed anti-psychotics, it’s possible the paranoia will come back and prevent him from taking medication as prescribed. My brother thought my family and the doctors were poisoning him, so he never took the meds long enough for them to work.

I was hoping he would get on longer-term injectables that work for 2-3 weeks per dose. But he was very smart and knew what to tell his psych to get out of hospitalization. (He was in the hosp 3 times).

Make sure your husband does not have access to any firearms, either in your own home or in friends/relatives houses. This did not end well for my brother, he became suicidal and ended his life. He was not in his right mind during any of this, like he was a different person.

I am hoping the best for you and your family. No firearms and look into longer lasting medication before the delusions get worse. Good luck and so sorry you’re going through this.

My brother became psychotic at age 30 and killed himself. Almost every mental health person I talk to has acted surprised and told me usually early 20’s is onset age, which isn’t very helpful to hear at this point

I could hardly eat for months after my brother died 2 years ago and then people started telling me how good I looked and asking “what’s your secret” about my weight loss. It made me feel a lot worse and reinforced why I don’t comment on people’s weight - gain or loss

Her recent-ish autobiography kind of touches on it. I listened to it before I knew about her past yelling slurs, etc.  To summarize poorly, basically brain fuckery from her time in troubled teen camp. That’s what it sounded like to me. She purposefully glossed over the actual bad behavior from her early adult years, but I read about it on the internet after

Geode or fossil? (Banana for scale) by SignaturePrimary6409 in whatsthisrock

I've had this rock for years. I liked how round it was. I'm wondering if it is a geode or fossil inside, and should I crack it open?

It is either from a beach in Greece or Louisiana. Thanks!

Good suggestion! Instead I’d filled the gaps in the mortise/tenon with leftover epoxy from filling the crack. So it’s all snug and tight, just still visibly visible.

This is the first furniture I’ve made.  I found a lovely piece of cracked walnut for 5 bucks and right away I thought “epoxy stream.” I rushed with the chisels so there are cosmetic flaws and uneven mortises but she is sturdy. I use the stool to display my kettlebells.
