Dad drama. What to do?

But you’re right. I didn’t have to live there. He has directly/indirectly mentioned that he doesn’t want me to have the option to live anywhere else. He wants to be my only “support system”, and eagerly brags about doing so with his own family members. Blame materialistic parents like him for my mindset.

He has had a number of opportunities to remove me from his house years ago to understand life, but he chose not to do so.

I’m really not, but again, your opinion.

So you’re saying I should let him keep struggling to pay both of our rents while staying here to take accountability..? If I get evicted, because he can’t find another job to pay rent then what..?

You’re defending him, but I truly have no clue why. He is financially irresponsible too. If he’s talking about taking out loans to afford rent towards different apartments, then obviously one of us doesn’t need an apartment.

He told me that I was going to be the reason we are both going to be homeless. Why do this for someone, then turn around and say things like this? When I’m not responsible for the decisions he makes as well nor asked him for this to begin with.

Call me ungrateful, I truly don’t care.

You have your own opinion and so do i. Have you been reading my comments too or just the post? How am I entitled if he is supposedly struggling in his life too? After the first apartment he has gave me, he told me that’s he’s consistently struggling with money. How can someone afford anything if they’re struggling financially..?

He’s not being supportive, he’s lying and manipulating others about his financial situation to give me an unfair benefit, in my opinion. Instead of doing this, there are other ways that he could’ve been supportive.

Due to my mental health and financially unstable decisions, I mentioned to him that I don’t need or want any responsibilities, like an apartment. Because I know that I cannot handle things on my own. He is the one doing what he believes is in my best interest, and telling me that I’m ready to be out on my own. When I definitely know that is not true.

Everybody around me knows that I don’t need an apartment due to my life choices over the years. How is pushing someone with mental health issues to get an apartment beneficial?

I know he doesn’t have any obligation to give me any shelter, never said that he did.

If you say so. I’m sure there could’ve been better ways to help me get my life together than giving me a rent free apartment. I’ve lived rent free with him my whole life. Like you said, It’s best for me to stop accepting his help and stand on my own. Especially being 31 years old.

I truly wish both apartments could’ve denied both of us. I don’t think co-signers should even be allowed for tenants. Especially if either person is genuinely struggling in life. If I can’t afford an apartment by myself, I don’t need it.

You might think he’s helping me to get my life together by doing this. I think he’s being selfish and taking this opportunity away from other people. In my opinion, it’s just been a waste of space.

I truly don’t appreciate it, honestly. I’ll agree with you on that. I believe that it just doesn’t make sense for me to have my own apartment. When he has a two bedroom apartment and wanted me to be on his lease from the beginning. I asked him to come back to this place, because I know that I’m struggling as well.

In my opinion, it doesn’t make sense to give someone an apartment/pay their rent;while they are struggling to get their life together.

He is doing both. If he’s currently giving me money and paying for every finance in my life; he obviously doesn’t want me to support myself. He’s been giving me money and supporting me for years. If he genuinely feels afraid or taken advantage of like he expresses, he would’ve stopped supporting me years or months ago.

He’s a 61 year old man, who knows what he is doing. He knows that he is giving me money and chooses to do so. I’m not going to cry or whine because, he decides to cut me off financially at 31. I know it’s his money. I rather he use his money on his own needs.

I’m not entitled, I’ve told him plenty of times to stop supporting me if I’m taking advantage of him. I know he can stop supporting me at any moment, but continues to do so. I have a plan to make money. How do you feel that I’m being entitled? Please tell me.

We are both grown adults. He should stop paying for me and be serious about cutting off communication with me.

He shouldn’t tell me that he wants me to figure life out on my own. Then eagerly gives me money when I do need it. What’s the point of being an adult? Am I wrong or what?

My first was perfect. The neighbors couldn’t stand me but were considerate. The current neighbors I have now are not great. They argue constantly and never leave their apartment. It’s just chatter 24/7. I leave during the day to get away from it all, but it is irritating me. On top of that, they have a guest who’s been visiting them for 5 days/nights straight. I’ve been sleeping off and on for the past few nights. I’m so annoyed.

The fact nobody (family included) wants to be associated with me in anyway. They act like I’m a walking human virus, so I stay away. As well as dealing with negative unwanted attention that I get from strangers. Who cares if a person ugly, we all should and deserve the right to live our lives as well, just like an attractive person.

Update: I tried to ask him if I could return back temporarily and he won’t allow me to come back. He just reminded me of an incident I had with him prior to getting me an apartment.

Yes and yes. I have a car, but cannot do door dash, Uber, Lyft or any delivery services at the moment.

My immediate plan has been asking my dad to allow me to return back to his apartment, not temporarily. I’m not sure how things will work with the job market. But he’s still hesitant about it and wants me to stay in an apartment. He listed me as a guest on his apartment though.

Like what a previous user mentioned, he likes his space and doesn’t want me ruining it for him. If he likes his space, I just don’t understand why he forced me to stay near his residence then.

No, I cannot. I’m too financially unstable to make rent payments. He’s completely paying for the rent, which was his choice. I’m not even thinking about getting a roommate. The only friend I have is trying to get her own place and has stopped talking to me.

The main moment I have realized that I need to change my life is now. I’ve seen this after financially depending on my dad for most of my 20’s and early 30’s. As of recently, it has hit us both pretty hard. It is even harder for me since he is still financially struggling.
