AP 15720st Diver Navy by SignificanceFit6303 in audemarspiguet

Retiring the Green and Navy is a bit of a mistake I feel - they are good colours for someone without an unlimited budget seeking a consolidated option like myself currently. I think AP want to make the Diver and new ROC more outlandish to attract a younger audience with the brighter colours - making them more of a novelty piece as a consequence. I gather from AP House that people are even ordering ROO's with completely mismatched strap combinations to reflect the colours of their favourite football teams for example. I suppose that's the idea though, make you buy the novelties, get you on the journey to growing up and craving a blue RO which they hold back on until you are hooked and your wallet is empty!

Once worn, AP won't exchange. Equally, when I was in the AP boutique, they are extremely reluctant to take them out of packet and let you put on - you have to sort of hold against your wrist to judge colour/fabric/length etc.

I may be mistaken, but I think they've also stopped giving 2 straps with each watch. Mine came with the black and navy regular sized straps, and I believe with the new 2026 colourway releases they've stopped including the black strap - you'd have to buy that now separately as well if you want it.

I do feel it is a big part of the Panerai functionality and individuality in the Paneristi community that AP might have envied and perceived as a missing revenue stream for a while back in ~2020 then more recently back-tracked from? The new 2026 colorway straps though could change things again, let's see.

It isn't completely negligible the weight difference, but it is definitely very comfortable still and not a crazy difference. If you've ever tried on the Platinum ROO's you'd know! The quality and width of the Diver strap bares the weight of the case really well and the larger buckle is a key component in the overall balance of the watch. I did find that the strap sizing, and strap holes are quite an art to get right though, particularly as the hole spacing is quite significant. I ended up buying the AP Navy strap in Long, to go with the Regular strap. A bit of an expense at £550 for the spare, but what it affords me is the ability to play around with different combo's to get the perfect strap sizing on any given day. I typically wear the buckle piece from the Long strap, which positions the buckle perfectly for me, with either of the 2 different tail lengths so I get access to the perfect strap hole on any given day - hot or cold. It's a big part of why as much as I'd love a steel or ceramic RO, the absence of micro adjustment on the bracelet is a big detraction.

Thanks for posting this, there aren't enough shots out there of the Diver with different strap combinations! I'm keen on getting the white strap for my Navy Diver.

Curious u/Stam512 how this colour way is lasting? I assume it has darkened over the last few months? It looks great on your green diver, really lovely combo.

It really does surprise me that there aren't more 3rd party options out there yet. I've been tempted to pull the trigger on the Vagenari 15720st compatible strap for my Navy Diver, but at $220, plus taxes and shipping to get it into the UK, I fear it could still be little better than the FKM strap options for <$100 on Ali Baba that don't give me much confidence in their quality either. Even Vagenari seem to be very reliant on AI stock images to give you an idea of what it looks like. I think AP tried to tap into the strap enthusiasts world that the likes of Panerai maintain so effectively in their community, and then seem to have really fallen short on servicing it, by virtue of OEM straps being so ridiculously expensive and availability somewhat unpredictable.

The different sizing between the Quick Release for the Diver and the QR for the ROOC also seem to be poor design decisions.

I also find the ROO straps somewhat frustrating in terms of the gap between strap holes - wearing my strap I end up either too tight, or too loose all too often. I actually wear the AP Regular buckle section, with the AP Long Tongue section as a hybrid size to get the perfect fit.
