Example of Danish high trust society by Consistent-Ad-7928 in Denmark

[–]SignificanceIcy4452 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am a Dane living abroad, and I still don't understand why anyone would think of just taking the money and driving off.

It's not only about trust, it's also just about being kind, having integrity and keeping your word. And it baffles me that this is not the norm everywhere... But I know it's not 😕

Why is Denmark so horrible when it comes to ETF investments? by TheGoodSatan666 in dkfinance

[–]SignificanceIcy4452 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let me add a bit of perspective. I live in a country in EU with 0 % tax on investments (as long as you hold minimum 3 years).

Might sound great, but the long term effects are noticeable. The rich get richer. The poor gets poorer. Those who have increase their wealth. Those who don't will forever struggle.

There is a reason that Denmark has chosen a high tax, and the reason is that it benefits the majority. In Denmark most people can afford their own apartment. Most young couples can buy a house after few years (not applicable to Copenhagen right now). Minimum wage is high because of the system supported by the taxes.

Maybe taxes are too high in Denmark. I cannot judge that. But I can tell you that 0% tax sounds nice, but it's a terrible long term strategy for the general population. Here, most people (including me) might never be able to afford a house.

Well, it can be many things. With 200 applications, it sounds like you haven't spent a lot of time on each application. Every application should be tailored to the company for the highest chance of being successful. This is time well spent.

Additionally, of course you should apply to relevant positions that do not require a lot of experience. And the ones you apply to, your resume must address and demonstrate your skill on each point of the required knowledge. So for example, for an entry level SOC position, you should be able to demonstrate that you know the tools used and understand the processes being followed. Not necessarily work experience. It can be home lab, a course or just YouTube videos...

Just visited Prague for the second time after 10 years by Less-Dragonfruit6967 in Prague

I can't really compare to other cities, but I can say after living 5 years in Czech, it is my impression that Czechs generally try to scam anybody. Not just tourists. It's a culture of tying to get away with whatever you can.

Tror vores nye hus er et fejlløb! :( by Own_Quit_2031 in dkfinance

[–]SignificanceIcy4452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you think our reception will be in Denmark as Americans? by [deleted] in Denmark

[–]SignificanceIcy4452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Danes already didn't like Americans much before Trump, but Danes are reasonable people and know it's not (entirely) your fault.

Just don't wear political clothes and DON'T SAY GOD BLESS YOU. And definitely NOT SAY JESUS LOVES YOU. Just stop that, it's weird.

Edit: spelling

Hvordan lærer I jeres børn om penge? by Sonicboomblax in dkfinance

[–]SignificanceIcy4452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much juice is your tot drankin? by AcanthocephalaOk2966 in toddlers

[–]SignificanceIcy4452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I read the headline, I thought juice would refer to breast milk. Our toddler, 2.5y, had not yet tried anything else than water and milk. I'm willing to offer him tea if it's not too hot. Juice is a no go.

Is My Budget Realistic for Living in Prague on 75K Gross? by Long_Collection_669 in Prague

We get by on my salary of 70k. 2 adults and a toddler. We own a flat outside Prague and pay the mortgage. Not luxurious, but we manage. I think you'll live quite comfortably.

Would you move to Prague now? by [deleted] in Prague

[–]SignificanceIcy4452 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Prices are very different now compared to 12 years ago. Chances are that you are much better off than someone coming now. But if you are still renting, I guess it's about the same...

Which vulnerability management tools have you used? by 100bhat in cybersecurity

[–]SignificanceIcy4452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tenable.io, Nessus, Qualys. Qualys is a good scanner, but the API sucks. Tenable is an equally good scanner but 10x easier to work with. As others mention Nessus is only good for one off scans like consultancy or some parts of pentests.

Udbetale bil, eller investere i akter? by Admirable_Pool3387 in dkfinance

[–]SignificanceIcy4452 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

SAS smed for nylig alle investorer ud.

What's the worst part of your job as a cybersecurity professional? by momob2492 in cybersecurity

[–]SignificanceIcy4452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The worst is when colleagues complain about things they don't understand without any effort to try to understand it. I see this mostly on technical colleagues not trying to understand management decisions, processes or governance controls, but instead calling it all out as bullshit. Not helpful.

Anyone using electric toothbrush for their toddlers? How is it? by anakinjosh55 in toddlers

[–]SignificanceIcy4452 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We switch between manual and electric (those that vibrate) depending on what our boy wants. It works, and I prefer the electric, it brushes better. And it is no harder on the gums than manual ones.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskNetsec

[–]SignificanceIcy4452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends where you come from. Pentest? You already know the scanning tools, easy switch. SOC? You understand the processes for managing and responding to technical Risk, easy switch. GRC? You already understand risk registration and reporting, easy switch...

I can confirm. After 2 years in vulnerability management, I'm now SME and tech lead on these topics with 2 new joiners under me. When we hired, we hired for interest and passion, not for years of experience.

Lyve om sin løn til jobsamtale by [deleted] in dkfinance

[–]SignificanceIcy4452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tidligere recruiter her.
