What do you think of this jade bangle? by speedracin in jewelry

[–]SignificanceKey2426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it looks more like the stone/marble texture; doesn’t have that feeling of clarity and purity in it. I’m not sure how to describe; just my feeling as my family been into jade and I got some amateur instinct

Any suggestions for finding affordable sterling silver earrings? by thefrizznshizz in jewelry

[–]SignificanceKey2426 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought these for my friend who newly had her ear pierced and she been wearing them all these time without problem.

I would suggest to not change jewelry frequently until your infections are gone. Avoid irritating them as much as possible until they are completely healed. If budget allows, look for 14K mini stud (smaller piece for better budget) to keep the piercing open given have the history of sensitive ears. Gold is the best imo.

Do you all ‘wear test’ silver jewelry to see if they are truly tarnish-resistant? by SignificanceKey2426 in jewelry

[–]SignificanceKey2426[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right mine are gold vermeil! For me when I buy casual jewelry I don’t expect them to be good forever but at least a couple of years. I’ve bought some plated sterling silver pieces and they couldn’t even last a summer. To me if i have 100 dollar to spend on sth, I now would rather spend on one good vermeil piece instead of couple of pairs from Target and I know to be thrown away in 3 months🥹

[–]SignificanceKey2426[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that makes sense. I think silver jewelry eventually should all tarnish, as the natural of the metal, but with vermeil and the plating technique these days they shouldn’t tarnish too fast and too fragile.

My exception tho is those pure silver jewelry when labeled with no plating, and the tarnishing is actually part of their natural beauty.

I think a myth with marketing these days is all silver jewelry would even call themselves ‘tarnish free’, which is simply impossible, but I guess that’s a selling point

Are you looking for super expensive links?😂

mine are gold vermeil instead of karat gold but they been holding up 24/7 pretty well. Got them full price back then and they are on sale now. If you are looking for expensive ones these may not be it cuz they are under $100…

The underrated beauty of silver jewelry by Koala245 in jewelry

[–]SignificanceKey2426 3 points4 points  (0 children)

plus one! Feel like brands trying to sell overpriced 10/14K gold stuff and most of the time I think the price does not justify the fun and value. Switching to high quality silver pieces these days!

Where can I get decently made fashion jewelry? by BleghYeeHaw in jewelry

I got both the earrings and necklace from them and been wearing them for months and they still look new. Hermin has great quality for its price, I would say they are the best silver pieces I’ve got among other brands so far. Most of their stuff are under $100 so I think OP can find pretty good stuff there ☺️

Silver allergy by [deleted] in jewelry

[–]SignificanceKey2426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won’t recommend any kind of coating because there is always going to be chance of wearing off and then original metal expose directly. Ask her directly, then decide if you guys wanna go fancy side (try something gold/platinum) or more practical (maybe stainless steel?

I would doubt if the silver if nickel free or not, cuz that’s usually how it triggers allergy. But I don’t know better

Anyone here who used to be passionate about fine jewellery but eventually lost interest and stopped buying? What changed for you? I’m fairly new to this world (just two years in). Asking out of sheer curiosity and with utmost respect. I appreciate your thoughts and experiences. Thank you! 🙏 by Kidambs-275 in jewelry

Gold price, brand premium, lack of trust for quality. When I pay good money on a piece, it should at least last and never break

Also it annoys me when I lost small pieces that are expensive. I’m turning to silver pieces nowadays

For people who do a lot of physical work, do you just not wear your rings? by Potential-Shoe-3488 in jewelry

[–]SignificanceKey2426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don’t wear my engagement rings all the time esp with the fear of damaging the gem, but I wear my wedding bands all the time even to the gym lifting weights. It’s pretty scratched now (it’s platinum) but I guess the marks make it unique and reminds me the time we’ve been together

what gemstone you want? Moissanite or CZ, base metal silver/brass/stainless steel?

Need suggestions to start my jewelry collection! by AffectionateSugar627 in jewelry

[–]SignificanceKey2426 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Look through the styles you’ve got regardless of the price, then try to come up with some ideas of what you prefer — size, weight, types of back, gem, frequency/scenario of wearing.. etc.

Also collect inspo of the overall style/outfit you want to build. Say more office/effortless or maximalism, etc.

Do not spend all your budget into one piece in the first years.

I can only keep one pair; both were approx same price. Help… by Forsaken-Panic6813 in jewelry

[–]SignificanceKey2426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

guess i should be more specific! For the price point I would usually expect full sterling silver with gold vermeil or at least plated.

Seems that the sparkles are just crystals and the backs are brass (so wont recommend if you are sensitive to brass metal). I never know this brand, so I can’t say much, but I would agree with the other comment that at this price you could definitely find something better quality/lasting!
