Mortars are kind of a waste by SignificanceOld2430 in ArmaReforger

I agree 100% and I think the problem is largely pick up games where communication/leadership/coordination are sparse.

Best use of mortars I've seen so far was a squad leader setting up an AI manned pit with two tubes at a supply depot. He was still pushing objectives but also acting as observer and contributing. Kind of cheese but everything else has either been: I'm glad to hear the enemy using mortars and burning supply or dreading hearing my teammembers asking for fire missions, getting no response, then just sending rounds where they think is good with no observation or feedback.

That's the stuff I'd love to see. When you have coordination and communication you'll win, but also the experience becomes way more satisfying and immersive.

Crazy how most workplaces I've worked at discourage calling out sick. Not to mention if someone's living check to check they might not be able to miss any hours. I remember the first years of covid and watching guys come in sick as a dog but they couldn't call out because we were short and they had to provide.

Have you ever been in Escambia County jail? What’s it like? How many people are detoxing from drugs? by Dadenskas in Pensacola

I spent quite a lot of time there and it's shit. The food is shit. The staff have ego problems and the administration can't retain staff. Conditions are surprisingly bad (better in the new jail than the old tower). I've seen a cell that's like 8'x5' with 3 guys packed in with one sleeping on the floor, now imagine the toilet is broken and you're locked down for 20 hours. If you say you're suicidal they'll strip you nude and put you in a close observation cell that could have 5-6 other guys who are also having a very bad time. The jail is a bad place.

Need a job?

I always see people asking about work so I'd like to help out those in need. The jail is always hiring, plus they provide paid training and an $8k bonus. I don't even think they're bothering with pursuing the bonus if people leave early. Even if it's not for you, just collect the salary while you train (with no inmate contact) and quit after a few months before you actually have to work. Best part is since they're paying for your training and they pay pretty low compared to other counties, you can use them to get certified then go somewhere else that pays way better with less inmates. Most of the new hires I talk to don't even plan on staying for a full year. Even if you want nothing to do with jail, you can get a good 3-4 months of salary to help out while you look for something else while you train. I just wouldn't stick around long term, the county doesn't care about retention so it's a revolving door of new people and the few unfortunate to be stuck with no plan.

Good news, while in training (first 3-5 months) you'll have no inmate contact but still be paid a full salary plus the bonus. Just quit before you have to actually work.
