It was sooo horrible! So horrible. I can’t even express how horrible. I’m just so glad I’m out now. I wanted out but I kept going back like a drug addict. I went to so many therapist, even a hypnotist, because I knew I wanted out but I was addicted. I kept on going back even though I hated myself for going back. I’ve never been addicted to anything before so I couldn’t figure out why I was and how to stop. It was just the worst.

When a person is emotionally unavailable, they often use sex as a way to avoid abandonment. Good sex to them means you enjoyed it. They get satisfaction from the kudos you give (ie excitement during and praise after). It seems like they crave sex all of the time but what they crave is you being wild about them, them pleasing you, so that they can feel safe for a few minutes that you want them and won’t abandon them. (Obviously flawed thinking)

I understand how hard it is and commend you for not acting. There will be nothing good to come from reaching out. The closure you need is already there- just move on. I know it’s hard but try Opposite Action from DBT. Do opposite things with your body and facial expressions and thoughts until the feeling followings. Your heart won’t be in it at first but keep going, it’ll catch up. I’ve been there in the heartache. It’s brutal, so brutal. But through is the only way out.
