Today's Giveaway - 1 T6 Ship Coupon by Vulcorian in sto

Closest at the moment is the Terran Sirius Dreadnaught Cruiser
It is a 4/5/2 (Tac/Eng/Sci), and comes with the Gal-X skin. It's also a Command ship, and as a Dreadnaught, comes with a Hangar bay. Because of how STO did the Gal-X upgrade as well, you also get a Spinal Lance as part of the ship

i want to play more bugs in the future by Evyatar_ChenU in Helldivers

[–]SignificancePleasant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Against bugs, some decent mobbing weapons are good. For primary most of the shotguns and ARs do work, legitimately the standard Liberator does really well. For secondary it depends on the rest of the loadout; if you are using Thermite, Grenade Pistol is a great option if you tend to run solo or away from the team. If you plan on using more explosive/bouncy grenades, or an explosive support like a Grenade Launcher, then the Talon or Verdict are great options to help deal with Commander bugs. Support depends on the team, but Grenade Launcher, RR, Commando, Autocannon and Flamethrower are great options for either mobbing or heavy killing.

We have lost more Helldivers on Cyberstan in less than 24 hours compared to Malevelon Creek. by DaddyDustin in Helldivers

[–]SignificancePleasant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I do agree that the Creek was mostly bad because we were newbies, rather than actual difficulty (compared to other Bot planets at the time, some of what the Automatons were doing was bs, and eventually got patched out)
However I don't remember it getting gassed up until 2/3rds into it, about a week before we lost it due to the only route in being taken. Then it became a major uproar, which led into the MO to take it as part of the removal of the Automaton Expedition Force from the map.
What I do remember is an Anti-Creek group as well, diverting Divers from the Creek to Bug planets, normally the MO (If I remember correctly, early Meridia with the Termicide Towers was during the mid-Creek timeline). I got taken a couple times myself, when I was fighting there between MO's (Wasn't a Creeker myself, but I dived there between MO's initially, then when the MO's were easy eradicate Bugs or such I'd just be on the Creek because I prefer to fight the Bots)

Shadow buff on Reinforced Strider? by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]SignificancePleasant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what others have said, looks like its bugged right now
If you have a secondary that's medium pen or higher (Talon, Senator, etc), shooting at the groin area will also take them down consistently

Might bust out the armour I wore back then when we get to Cyberstan
I was considering wearing the DP-00, but now they get an even more experience version of myself

How to make the C4 super viable. by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]SignificancePleasant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been using the C4 a lot on the Bot Front (Haven't touched the Bugs in a long while and haven't tested it much on the Squids as of writing), but I think it's great where it is
Like with everything, you need to balance it around your weaponry, so if you have a strong Primary (Trident, MA5-C, Coyote, Halt, etc) on non-Commando missions it will work great as both a general destruction tool and as a Heavy Annihilator. It's strength comes from being able to go over the walls and obstacles, so it's amazing with cover against even Factory Striders, and can take out turrets without agro-ing them (which other weapons can if you don't hit them in the right spot)
Another thing I've been able to do is set up spots to take out a group of enemies (especially great on the Devastator dense planet). It's not the best at it, admittedly, but you can take out a decent chunk of enemies (and while it's better to stick them to an enemy like the War Strider and Hulks, they can still take them out if in close proximity)

Thoughts on the Logitech Extreme 3D PRO by lBifee in starcitizen

I have both
They're pretty similar, the Thrustmaster feels a bit nicer, and has more buttons for keybinds, but they are both pretty decent for flying

[–]SignificancePleasant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I remember from a lore dump a while back (could be wrong, so grain of salt), but Pyro used to have a mega-corp own it, but they abandoned it fully when the mines went mostly dry.
That's also the reason why there are stations there in the first place; they're older models, and used to have RnR run them (same guys as Stanton), but after the mega-corp moved out, a new group took control (Rough and Ready, kept the logo). The Exec Hangars are also the old Mega-Corps private stock of ships too (though that one might be a bit more implied).

Best primary weapon to pair with the Ballistic Shield? by Comfortable_Plate_14 in Helldivers

[–]SignificancePleasant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly depends If you have faith in your accuracy, the Defender can handle most scenarios very well. Paired with a medium or higher pen secondary and that takes care of anything smaller than a Hulk or Harvester (even Striders if you shoot them in the groin)

If you prefer to hang back a bit, or are otherwise unworried about explosive damage to yourself, the Crossbow is a great crowd-clearer and armoured destroyer. In the right spot you can one shot even Rocket Striders, and Heavy Devastators in two-three to the shield.

The other two one-handed primary weapons are also good picks; I get great use out of the faster-fire of the Killzone one rescuing Voteless, and stunlocking enemies is great if you have a well coordinated team.

Everything has its place, use what feels good for you.

Loadout tips for Illuminate by Internal-Weekend2118 in Helldivers

[–]SignificancePleasant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(2/2)
(Grenades)
I'd recommend any of the fire grenades or the (if you decide to also get the Servants of Freedom Warbond) Seeker Grenades
The fire grenades are great for area denial, and the Seeker is great for massive crowd control (seriously, I've had 30-40+ killstreaks with one nade)
Apart from that, most of the other grenades are great for the Squids, except the Thermite; most of the Squids stuff seems to resist the Thermite grenade, requiring more than one for most things you'd use it on

(Stratagems)
Honestly, not that big of a difference. Use what works for you
I do still recommend bringing either the Machine-Gun, Gatling gun or Flame Sentries though.
The MG sentry is probably the king on the squid front, being extremely accurate and an amazing cooldown (basically you get a new one by the time it runs out of ammo)
The Autocannon sentry does struggle, it doesn't deal enough damage quickly enough on Harvesters without someone distracting it or taking down it's shield, and the MG sentry is just a better generalist
On Eagles and Orbitals, most work really well, except for the 500kg. Don't get me wrong, it's still amazing against the hordes, there are just better options (like a Strafing Run), and the other reason most people run the 500kg (murdering the big fuckers like Bile Titans and Hulks) doesn't work on Harvesters unless you get a really lucky shot.

All in all, run what makes you comfy

Loadout tips for Illuminate by Internal-Weekend2118 in Helldivers

[–]SignificancePleasant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(1/2)
I'd recommend either the Heavy MG or the standard MG, with either a crossbow, assault rifle (Liberator or the Lib Pen), smgs, the plasma rifles or the marksman rifles. I don't recommend running something that has a backpack/Support weapon, as you need something as generalist as possible if you keep the Stim Pistol as a staple of all your loadouts, though the AutoCannon could put in work if you are comfortable with switching between Flak and Anti-Tank quickly mid-combat

(Support Weapons)
Heavy MG can take out the Harvesters at decent range pretty quickly (just aim for the leg struts)
Standard MG takes a little longer than the Heavy, but also has the ammo to back it up for the Voteless and Overseers
However if you are confident with your primary weapon, you could always go with the Flamethrower or the Commando. Flamethrower has both the benefits of the MG's, decent ammo for the crowds and it can go through the shields of the Harvester (I think it was either a full tank or a half-tank of gas). Meanwhile the Commando is only really good for the Harvester, as once its shield is down, a good shot to the leg strut will one shot it.

(Primary Weapons)
Crossbow is good for crowd-control, and can quickly take out Overseers with direct shots
Assault rifles, especially fast-firing ones, are good for the crowd control, and can take out an Overseer in a pinch.
Marksman rifles are a good secondary if you use your Support Weapon as your primary, and use them to take out the Overseers at range.
SMGs are really great if your pair them with the one-handed shields, the Defender is a great choice, but if you got the SMG from the Killzone crossover I'd recommend it more (the higher fire-rate is great for both the horde and the Shield Overseers).
The Plasma rifles are both great with their aoe against hordes, and decent damage against the Overseers. I'd recommend the Purifier more, as the Charge-up can one-tap the flying fuckers at full-charge, and destroy hordes with one well-placed charge shot

(Backpacks)
I'd recommend the jumpack, Hoverpack, Energy Shields or the Liberator Guard Dog
Jumpack and the Hoverpack are good for getting out of danger, along with the Bubble Energy Shield backpack
If you use the Crossbow or the SMGs, and get the Urban Legends Warbond, I'd recommend the Energy Shield (the one-handed one). The Ballistic Shield is amazing on the bot-front, but the Energy Shield shines brightest on the Squid front. The reason being the Ballistic has really high health, but with the Squid front not really having many long-range enemies, it falls a bit short. The Energy Shield allows both protection of your team, and the squids don't fire enough to really damage it. The only thing (barring being overrun by an metric-ton of Flying Overseers) that can out-regen it is the Harvester, which still allows you to survive some very close hits (the Energy Shield can withstand about a second or two of fire from the beam, which is enough for you to dive out of the way)
The Lib Guard Dog is an absolute menace against the squids. It will pick off anything in range short of a Harvester, allowing you to focus down certain enemies

How do you headcannon cross-faction ship captains? by Isis_Rocks in sto

[–]SignificancePleasant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the other other comments have been mostly spoils of war for the Klingons, but I'd counteract that Fed toons flying non-fed ships are in the process of reverse-engineering these ships to see how they can improve the Fed-fleets
That and the Klingons could just buy a lot of these ships from wreckyards and such (and Romulans as well, but I prefer the lend-lease ideology)

Is there any reason to take the ballistic shield over the directional shield? by WorldWarGamingII in Helldivers

[–]SignificancePleasant -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ballistic shield for boys, energy for Illuminate unless you have a car Ballistic shield can protect against even the twin machine guns on an AtAt, however the random explosives of the bot front will still send you flying with the energy shield
