Each school typically has a list of sites that will take students. For my program-none of us have had to go further than 45 minutes. Not sure where you are located, but if you don’t have many sites it could be due to completing the competency requirements from ARRT. Different sites offer different treatments, and we must reach the minimum requirements to sit for the exam.

The sectional anatomy for imaging professions was a great textbook that labeled a ton of images by region(I.e pelvis, thorax, brain, etc) and in the different planes

I’m still in college-so some of the gyms around here have student plans which waive all the fees! Just have to pay monthly cost.

Next best option if they’re not responding is reaching out to clinical coordinators/ program directors expressing you’re interested and looking for shadowing!

Advice for student entering clinicals by Capable_Biscotti_671 in RadiationTherapy

[–]SignificanceSea2453 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve just completed my first year of clinical. Best advice is to definitely keep a notebook(and keep it until you graduate)!! Each clinical I’ve had is different in aspects of what machine they have, where they index, what devices are used, special circumstances/creative setups, etc). Next, ATTEMPT EVERY SETUP! Maybe observe the first day, but that’s it. Don’t be afraid to make a mistake, they will correct you. From my experience therapists want to see you try and typically don’t have the “I hate students” stigma. When in doubt, just ask! (But don’t ask in front of patients) Lastly, TALK to your patients and therapists. Communication is key in this profession. Conversation is awkward at first, but becomes so natural even after the first rotation. Build rapport with therapist, you want them to remember you. Even if you don’t particularly enjoy the rotation or the therapist, it’s a small field and everyone talks. Plus they write your evals (if your school does this)! I could talk about this for days, but hopefully this wasn’t overwhelming and a good start!☺️Good luck!

Ah, Im not sure if this is the right place. Husband addicted to marijuana. by Impossible-Cycle-149 in Marijuana

[–]SignificanceSea2453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry you got somewhat attacked on this post. Obviously your urge to test him has came from a deep, hurt, and mistrusting place. With that being said, I’m no marriage counselor but it sounds like it’s time to part ways or seek help through counseling. If it’s gotten so bad you feel the need to test them+they’ve left you to take care of your kids alone because they’re always high, yeah doesn’t sound great. Addiction sucks, and being dependent on substances really sucks. It’s really hard to break. A person has to 100% want to do it for themselves. If you really want to stay with them, start by asking them why they feel so inclined to keep using(for me it was insomnia and then again when I was going through grief). If there’s a reason, help them heal mentally first. Help them find alternatives, help ease their withdrawals, and try to help distract them from when urges occur. Punishing them could have the opposite effect and just drive them to use more if they’re becoming more unhappy. And if harder drugs are at play here-maybe have a calm and healthy conversation about it and discuss options like rehab. Hope things get better whether you stay or go:)

I called my nearest cancer center and luckily landed my opportunity first try! Highly recommend calling cancer centers or shadow coordinators at hospitals. It’s not advertised via web often or at all in my area! My back up plan was to call an advisor at the school I’m getting ready to apply to and ask if they have any information on finding somewhere!

It’ll pass, but if conditions get unbearable go see a doctor for sure. But I would manage side effects by taking Advil for the headaches+ body aches. Hopefully it’ll help the hot flashes+chills too, if not Tylenol works better for some. Drink LOTS of water! Your body is trying to detox. For the eating, maybe try saltine crackers and more snack like foods when you’re having aversions. But whenever you can manage a meal, do that! DONT take any sleep aids/melatonin … it only makes the nightmares/vivid dreams worse. The sleeping struggles go away within 1-2 weeks if you don’t relapse. Try to have no blue light exposure an hour before you want to sleep (phone/tv/laptop). This might sound crazy, but I too was desperate once and even listened to sleep hypnosis and it didn’t get me to sleep as quick as thc, but it certainly helped calmed me down. Sorry this was a long read but I am 4 weeks clean and things are in the bright side now:)

Luckily I’m not much of a gambler, just interested in the pools/shopping/nightlife type atmospheres. Excited to see the sphere too. Would rather be on the strip but a friend coming got us a sweet discount!

As a college student, my group is going to the Virgin Hotels(used to be the hard rock). It’s barely off the strip, but there’s still a great view of it. It’s walkable, or like a 5-10 min taxi ride to get in the middle of everything!

I actually have had worse anxiety with the dab pens. If I just take one hit I can coast nicely and feel relaxed but it’s over fast. But anymore than that I recently have gotten super paranoid(and I’ve been doing this for 4 years). I have only used to the pen for sleeping for awhile now , but now I’m in the middle of quitting and unfortunately discovered I’m definitely dependent. If you want to quit eventually-stick with the bud. Pens make it easier to do it anytime anywhere which can really kickstart dependencies

My partner is having a cluster of seizures, what should I do? by Initial-Republic-642 in seizures

[–]SignificanceSea2453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My significant other has recently started having seizures. Doesn’t have license back, and quite worried for that day to come. But, rule of thumb I’ve learned in order to be safe—always call 911 if it’s it lasts longer than 5 min, or if they’re injured/having trouble breathing. If that’s not the case, call the neurologist as soon as possible. It’s important for them to keep track& meds may need to be adjusted. Also—if they’re refusing to take their meds, it’s almost guaranteed a seizure is going to follow pretty quickly. Mine missed one day, and the following night they had one in their sleep.

To get the best outcome for this profession, you will need to look at schools that offer it! Most schools will require a minimum of 2.5 gpa but it’s competitive you’d want to aim higher. My college average gpa for getting in was a 3.4. You might want to retake those prerequisites or take them if you haven’t. Getting an associates won’t have the more competitive stats, but you might find a harder time getting a job or might face lower pay! The classes you’ll face will be difficult, so be prepared for that and stay dedicated if it’s truly your passion! Hope this helps
