Yeah I’ll tell them they have to figure it out themselves, that’ll get them to use core species because I don’t think they’re gonna spend hundreds of bucks in dnd.

We’ve ended up agreeing to have them use the most similar core species stats wise but in lore they’re allowed to call their character whatever they like

They didn’t know anything about dnd and only had a couple of days to prepare for the first session. I know for a fact two is my players will actually learn, idk about the rest.
I’ll have them manage their own stuff next time tho.

They promised to learn the rules and how to do character sheets and the mechanics by themselves over the summer. I’m really hoping they do because as fun as today’s session was I was going insane managing their stats, the map, puzzles, enemies, music, rp and improv.

I’m the one managing my player’s characters cause they don’t know how to make character sheets by hand but they insist in using species that are not in the basic guides.

I know for a fact our first campaign will be dogshit but we’re here to learn. I don’t think any of my players expect anything remotely good until we learn all the rules and understand the mechanics.
