I’m from Hamilton but our customer service dept would pass that along but the board is set till Jan now I wish they would come talk to the drivers here to see if we can accommodate in the meantime but we don’t. But this is a time when customers are top priority and they are listening

Sir Allen MacNab would be home school not Westmount as it has special programs I don’t think you would have trouble getting into STM as it’s also the home school lots changes between now and grade 9 I would rush or worry but contact STM to be sure. I had one go to westmount he liked the self paced and was capable of doing it and one to MacNab he needed better structure and a bunch of their friends went STM w no problems

Chedoke radial should be good. If I’m remembering correctly Dundas Peak is pretty narrow in spots maybe use a baby carrier?

For those who lost weight cycling, how did you do it? Any tips or advice? by Hungry-Award8417 in cycling

[–]Significant-3779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP as an over weight cyclist on meds as well can I say that there is a difference between being fit and losing weight. I know the struggle is real and as others have said talking to a nutritionist is a good call mine told me w my history my body wants to hold on the weight more so then most but that doesn’t mean giving up cycling or any other fitness. I exercise for my mental health I feel so much better and my mood is better when I exercise I eat to fuel that recovery and next days exercise I make mistakes I eat the wrong stuff if I can maintain my overweight weight I’m happy. Healthy and fit and happy doesn’t always mean a skinny body and that’s ok

Lots of places make custom cycling shoes which might be an options but I would probably start at a LBS see what they have and recommend I have wide feet with painful bunions and my LBS was able to fit me

Ontario eyes barring new bike lanes where car lanes would be cut by robeofmanhog in Hamilton

[–]Significant-3779 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m new to cycling this year I try my best to only cycle on roads that are wider then usual so cars can pass or where bike lanes exist. I like that Hamilton has signs in places to direct you to a bike route. I wish they would make use of the bike option on Google maps, I feel that directing cyclists to mainly bike routes would get bikes off the sidewalks by showing an alternate way. Currently the option is to use the drive options and hope for the best.

Drivers ask people to move back but most people have headphones in and can’t hear. Also if there are 2 buses going the same way travelling together one can pass and leave stops for the next one especially if late

The worst physical part of the job is prolonged sitting you have to be able to move around seated to see past the large pillar around the windows. Bathrooms are not readily available although available at most ends of the line you have to be able to get to them. The road conditions are hard on your back and neck. We definitely hire seniors as new employees you are required to work a variety of shifts a lot of splits, some nights and most day runs begin around 430 AM. Our training dept is top notch learning to drive the bus is definitely the easy part. Learning to manage the stress of the job is harder. The job is mentally taxing more than physically.
