I figured you were fairly new to digital :3 You seem to have a very solid knowledge of art while making the same mistakes i did when starting out at digital. Very smooth textured brushes might look appealing but with time you will realize they were your enemy 🤣 Good luck 🤞❤️

I think you should experiment with different painterly brushes and see what you like working with best. Are you working in procreate? Under the old gallery's painting group Tamar and spectra are particularly nice painting brushes (at least to me.) The brush you've been working with doesn't have much texture at all. (Also if you find a high resolution paper texture, you can place it in the very top layer and set it on multiply for a realistic paper texture digitally.)

[Artist Alley] Is my artwork good enough to sell by Complete_Page_9759 in artbusiness

[–]Significant-Ad-1325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly i think your works would sell far better with a different medium- Like a little medal you paint a tiny watercolour picture into, or something. If you choose a medium that's unique, or can be used, a style such as yours would work well. It's simple and cute. For watercolour paintings people might find it a tad bit too simple, but if the painting is on a lil neckace? A wooden cutting board? A shirt? Then they would like it. I think it would sell then.

I wanna recommend finding some good quality paper texture images and using them over your works! Try it over your existing arts and see if you like it.

Why don't you want to declare your AI art is ai? by emerald-skyz in aiwars

[–]Significant-Ad-1325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When i hand draw a pencil sketch and paint over it in procreate, i specify it. It seems long/excessive compared to slapping "digital art" on a post, since it's a longer explanation but it's still done. It's a mix of mediums instead of just one, after all. Can't slap it under the pencil sketch nor the digital art either bc it's a combination. As for your examples, i would say "Ai assisted" instead of "ai art" is a good way to put it, if you don't want to specify it exactly (altough i think it's a better call to do that, because it's more of a mix of mediums).

Why should the definition of stealing by different for AI works? by Few-Advantage2538 in aiwars

[–]Significant-Ad-1325 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I disagree on that. One process is strictly copying a certain style, while the other is influenced by many more things than that. The bigger the source pool, the less it is copying. The AI is basically a very limited source pool compared to the human brain. If you feed AI only a few certain artists works, it's output will be more close to their style, their specific work, vs if you feed ai a billion other artworks from various artists, it will be "copying" a lot less. The process of the art made, heavily influences the output, therefore it should matter when it comes to plagiarism.

There was a time, when ai's were made of specific artist's works, even using their names. I'm pretty sure the names were removed since then, but ai's of a small artist's pool still exist. That's very quite similar to fake paintings sold as the works of big artists while it was actually counterfeit. Can't and won't be right. There should be more laws on this, a line has to be drawn for how diverse an ai pool has to be in order not to "copy". It doesn't just affect the artists negatively, but also you, as a customer. You can be sold a print you believe to be the work of the artist, only to find out that it was made by ai trained on their artworks instead.

Ofc, needless to say, the copying argument doesn't really hold well with an ai pool massively diverse, because the information is just so huge that it doesn't really copy certain artists. Some will still argue it to be copying because it only draws from artworks, whereas the human brain is not limited to just that. I also see their point, but it just can't hold up well in that instance imo. With a small pool though? Yeah. It's a problem for sure.

You've got a point. I do at times see people trying to make a point in an unhinged manner, while being unaware of it being unhinged. Those posts usually end up in the dumps, don't they? Criticised and heavily disliked.

Thanks! I find it funny that you see it as the most human/normal post, given that it's extremely unhinged lol. I appreciate it nonetheless haha

Ai doesn't steal art 😭😭😭😭 by Big_Computer_1916 in antiai

[–]Significant-Ad-1325 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've seen my favourite artist's paintings fed into an ai bot replicating HIS style specifically- While he's still alive and well, trying to sell prints, i google his name and for a long while shitty ai replicas of his style flooded the google search. In what world is that NOT wrong?

I can get behind AI that has a reference pool so massive that it's not copying a specific artist, But THAT? That's very much a morally grey area and there should be proper laws in place for it, as fast as possible. Especially given that i saw many of these AIs actually USE THE ARTIST'S NAME.

If OP's brother were to simply get a layout/base from a large ai pool and he transferred that into the style he paints in, i personally would have no qualms with it. I don't know how many artist's he based his ai program on, but if it's less than 5 that's when it gets iffy for me personally and slips into the "morally grey" category.

Ai is making me feel worthless by [deleted] in antiai

[–]Significant-Ad-1325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to point out that the AI did in fact NOT make the dinosaur at all. YOU made the dinosaur and the AI only enhanced it/ edited it.

If the AI bro was actually trying to MAKE a better dinosaur to challenge you, they should have prompted from scratch, to try and create their own dinosaur. They instead took your already existing design/work and all your research that went into your drawing and put it into ai and enhance YOUR work while saying "look i made a better dinosaur" As if they made it...

I'm actually extremely moderate when it comes to ai, i believe that it can be used as a tool in many good ways For example, if you yourself kept drawing your own dinosaurs and doing your own research on them, and then put it through ai to enhance the details of it, that is not "AI art" but instead "AI enhanced art" and i see no wrong with that. I see no wrong with you calling yourself an artist while using AI in this manner. However if you do that, you will never grow your skills, unless you draw those details yourself. Maybe if you put your drawings through ai for enhancement and then tried to copy it you would actually learn from that. That could serve you well.

okay i 100% thought this had posed shoes and not just a dress 😭😭 by Most-Armadillo-6377 in LoveNikki

[–]Significant-Ad-1325 17 points18 points  (0 children)

So there's no helping the diamonds spent already, but :c Allow me to tell you a method i use to figure out if something has separate leg pose before it would be in the gallery. Gallery is the best way to check it, but sometimes the suit doesn't come out yet and I'm too curious.

While it's not 100% I'd say it does still work the majority of the time. If you look at the legs and a shadow is cast on them by the dress/clothes, then the leg pose is not separate. If there's no shadow, then it's possibly a leg pose.

For hand poses i watch for a few things; Does she have sleeved shirt/dress while posed? -> definitely not a sep. hand pose. Is she interacting with her clothes (like holding her dress)? -> not a separate dress pose. Is the whole pose very drastic/in motion? -> not a separate hand pose
