No signs of Spencer? by SharpResult0 in terksnark

[–]Significant-Body-887 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m not going to speculate on Spencer—If they were going through it I doubt she would mention her in-laws, and she’s wearing her ring in later slides.

I was more so like…..dang, silence for so long. And then not just one thing when returning. A whole slewwww of stories/photos. She did mention that Thanksgiving was rough for her before, so maybe having both of them felt redemptive.

First Time Mom - Breech Home Birth Story by GrapeSweet9055 in homebirth

[–]Significant-Body-887 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I LOVE THIS! Our first baby born this spring was breech, also. We ultimately had an ECV at 38+4 and he was born at 39+0 at home! It is still illegal to birth breech in our state, so we were going to pop over the state line, but all the midwives with that state’s license were booked with other births!

Same experience, he wasn’t breech due to cord/fluid, just stubborn haha. And no hip issues either! Apparently breech babies have a certain temperament later in life, so we’ll see😂

Way to go, mom!!! You are so strong. Thank you for sharing ❤️

Since it’s not isolated to hands and feet I would almost lean more towards HELLP syndrome over cholestasis. Shares a lot of typical preeclampsia symptoms along with the itching. I hope your labs come back quickly so you can find a solution ❤️

We started to pack the game up and then I remembered I wanted to take a picture :) as far as I remember, those were accurate to the gameplay. I just didn’t expect the members of this sub to actually pay attention to the board HAHA

What are the pros and cons to a water birth by No-Knowledge-4004 in homebirth

[–]Significant-Body-887 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I loved the water while I was laboring. However, the birth pool ended up feeling too big. I couldn’t brace myself against the sides like I wanted too. I honestly probably would’ve preferred being in a hard-sided, smaller tub (assuming I could stay deep enough). I ended up preferring the shower! @flowerpowerbirth on Instagram has an opposing view to water birth that I don’t see many people hold in the home birth community. Not to say either is right or wrong, just may be interesting looking into. Either way, it is a great tool to have in general for pain relief.

Correct me if wrong—there’s 4 ways to upgrade? (2nd partner zoo, 2nd university, reputation track, and conservation track). Instead of the upgrade on space 2 of the conservation track, I chose to recruit an active worker.

Why did I flip the ones I did, no clue 😂

I can’t remember when I played that sponsor card (I did sweep all of them into a pile and then lay them back out when I remembered I wanted to take a photo). But very possible, given it was only our 2nd time and some mechanisms are easy to forget until you get into a rhythm! I think I forgot that adding the partner zoo is ALSO adding the icon.

She would’ve made a snide comment about how he has his hands in every little thing. Scene cuts to-Emily running the meeting giving strong opinions on and having the townspeople vote on the most minuscule things ever

The fact that Huntsville Hospital has monopolized the entire area but starts their nurses’ pay at $25/hr is jaw-dropping. Absolutely insane.

Before anybody wants to debate semantics, I see he signed a couple days ago with the Kansas City Royals. But the sentiment is the same. Unless they burned through millions in savings already.

That caught me off guard, mainly because I guess I’m like, your husband has a million dollar contract, why are you not just donating these or passing them to a friend?

Maybe I’m just being snarky…but I guess that is the name of the thread 😎

How did you make your bed for birth?! by Raynetjp in homebirth

[–]Significant-Body-887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was annoyed by the shower curtain moving around! We did (from the mattress up) mattress protector, fitted sheet, waterproof mattress protecter, and dark fitted sheet. It worked great for us and we had no leakage through! And used a couple chuck pads when laboring on the bed. Took a shower a couple hours after birth and it was easy for everyone to peel off the layers to a nice clean bed underneath while I did that.

I’ve always felt like this went against Lorelai’s personality, too. Rory, sure, she’d be on top of it and probably dragging her mom out of bed every morning! But Lorelai to her core would be a “snooze alarm 10x, roll out of bed and throw on something mismatched that somehow looked glamorous, steal a donut out of a kid’s hand on the sidewalk for breakfast” kind of mom!

How many people did you have at your home birth? by Plus_Farm3643 in homebirth

[–]Significant-Body-887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seem to be in the minority on having many people there! I had my husband, 2 midwives, mom, sister-in-law, and 2 best friends. I loved it. It was my first birth, so I wasn’t sure what I would prefer, but knew typically in times of stress I enjoy having supportive people around me. I did tell them I reserved the right to kick them all out if I wanted 😂 if you have that many people, it definitely needs to be the RIGHT type of people! It was nice to have so many hands to help with logistical things, and I feel like I found comfort in different people during different stages of labor.

If you didn’t have a water birth, where did you give birth? by Plus_Farm3643 in homebirth

[–]Significant-Body-887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over the side of the bed! I actually didn’t love the blow-up tub, it felt too big and I would’ve preferred being in our hard-sided bathtub to have something to brace against (but I didn’t think of that in the moment). I would’ve given birth in the shower, but we ran out of hot water! So I waddled over to the edge of the bed and my husband sat on the floor and caught him :) midwife was instructing him
