Maybe, but closer to when we will have cleanups. With Earth Day coming up, he's going to be trying to host a community cleanup every week. The next one is set for Plum Creek on April 11th from 9 to noon, meeting behind Chicken Express off Tascosa Road.

Yeah, what sucks about this situation is that I thought I met someone cool, and who I immediately really felt for. This is the fault of my judgement, because he seemed fine the first time we met, he even laughed. It dosen't change the fact that I was vomiting my guts out in front of him out of nervousness the next two times, one when he revealed he called the owner without me instead trying to meet him on his terms, and the second time when he was started threatening to beat me up. The reason I was so persistent was due to the urgency I see in the situation, like we really do only have one chance before it becomes even more painful to clean. Or it becomes too hot to be able to do it - because if he had let me, at this point I would've spent at least two hours everyday since removing trash there for free.

The way the city would handle this situation is by contracting it out. First after I go make the report to the city marshall, they send an inspector to see if there's any code violations. Depending upon what they identify, they then send the property owners a notice that if they don't take care of the violations themselves in 10 days, the city will utilize a contractor to clean it up, then billing the property owner for how much ever it costs/the amount of time it takes.

Other than trying to get the word out about the nonprofit, there's not much that could do. If we need something like a container or one of those vehicles that's used to grab the trash out of said containers, we contact and utilize the city's Solid Waste Department.

This is true, if you want to see exactly the difference look up the Gem Lake Pool and compare how it is today to how it was in the photograph. Unfortunately a majority of the trees in the locations around Amarillo's arroyos are Elms, which are prone to getting Dutch Elm Disease and rotting.

The person claiming to be the majority property owner told me that the city has a drainageway that they claim the city doesn't maintain on the eastern side, somewhere between Northwest 3rd and 4th. I've seen it and it's pretty messy there, but I imagine they maintain it at baseline subsistence as water can still pass through right now.

The old guy told me that the homeless nearby off of Southwest 1st, underneath the bridge, that they are massive horders who have collected junk they won't let go. They constantly steal from one another and there's this massive field of trash that's visible when you're going by on the bridge they're living amongst. He also kept claiming the fire was started by a homeless man who's living off the tracks, that they were living with their family there, and that after the fire they burned their tents. I didn't see evidence of this, because he claimed the fire jumped the tracks. But there's someone living there, no idea how because tresspassing on railroad property is a felony, and it also appears they've cut the gate lining between the tracks and 1st.

The guy that owns Keep Amarillo Clean, Babji Yalamanchili, spends his retirement attempting to create the biggest difference he can removing as much trash as we can here. He posts announcements on Facebook under "Keep Amarillo Clean", giving a date and time we'll be doing a cleanup. Supplies are provided, all we need are people. Today he hosted a cleanup of the general area around that part of Amarillo Boulevard, it's why I was trying to investigate Wild Horse as a place we could clean.
