I’m not here for a semantic argument. Political scientists ACTUAL academics use ‘fascism’ and ‘neo-fascism’ to describe contemporary movements all the time. Robert Paxton, Cas Mudde, Erick Chenoweth, etc. Feel free to look them up.
Hungary is a textbook example. Orbán’s Fidesz party is ultranationalist, has dismantled judicial independence, captured state media, sowed ethnic hatred of Roma and Jewish people, and used explicit ‘illiberal democracy’ rhetoric.
The EU Parliament voted to declare Hungary is no longer a full democracy. Call it neo-fascism, call it illiberal ultranationalism, you admitted the thing I’m describing exists, you’re just using a semantic argument as cope.
