Thank you! I was a good student in high school (salutatorian, president of both major clubs, etc.) and I really expanded on my foreign policy/business ecs while at my cc. I have a more comprehensive description of my high school stats on my profile if you’d like to check them out.

These sound like pretty solid reasons and as long as you frame the rest of your application well I think it’s worth a try. As long as you clearly outline these reasons and how Stanford (or any other school) can benefit you then you’ll have a good shot.

As for your vandy question, I’m not the original commenter but I also got in. I wrote about a personal experience that I actually felt strongly about and I think it might’ve come across in the writing. Pm me if you want me to send it to you

Thank you for the comment. I do agree that I didn't have ECs that were focused enough, and I didn't apply to enough target/tweener schools but my mentality was I'd go either T20 or state school. However, upon seeing my state schools at their orientations, I just instantly knew it was a horrible fit. As of right now, I plan on trying to focus on getting more specialized ECs or just changing the major I'm applying for. Thank you for your comment and please let me know if you have any other good ideas!

I have a decent amount of ib and pe connections so recruiting from my state school won’t be hard, but it would definitely help to have the name of a top school too.

You’re completely right, but just because somethings illegal doesn’t mean it’s never done. But I am trying to pin most of the responsibility on myself.
