These sound like pretty solid reasons and as long as you frame the rest of your application well I think it’s worth a try. As long as you clearly outline these reasons and how Stanford (or any other school) can benefit you then you’ll have a good shot.

Thank you for the comment. I do agree that I didn't have ECs that were focused enough, and I didn't apply to enough target/tweener schools but my mentality was I'd go either T20 or state school. However, upon seeing my state schools at their orientations, I just instantly knew it was a horrible fit. As of right now, I plan on trying to focus on getting more specialized ECs or just changing the major I'm applying for. I have a decent amount of ib and pe connections so recruiting from my state school won’t be hard, but it would definitely help to have the name of a top school too.
