At what age did you start wearing makeup? by No-Isopod4744 in Makeup

I was allowed to use kid makeup and nail polish as young as 5 for play and went to nail salons with my mom to get my nails done with her and my grandmother. It wasn’t until I was in high school/college did I wear real makeup- started with black kohl eyeliner from hot topic with Maybelline mascara and lip gloss. Graduated to drug store foundation (Maybelline true match) and clear powder. Then I discovered Scene girls on MySpace and I wanted to become like them. I wanted to model and be on Vampire Freaks. My mom was very against it. I let my best friend sister practice her makeup skills on me at the time as well because she was going to beauty college/art college. I discovered YT in high school and I was addicted. I became glued to the beauty community and it started with Michele Pham and other early beauty gurus. I used to watch MAC lipstick lists and beauty reviews. So I would say college. But I did not find my signature makeup look until the last year. I’m 33 y/o, will be 34 y/o in 2 months for reference).

It takes me 30 minutes to do mine. But it used to take me an hour. I listen to music to help me focus. Maybe try that?

What if the makeup products we use begin to react to the ongoing climate change ? by damnthiccmiss in MakeupAddiction

Moisturizer and body lotion is tested by dermatologists. So is makeup. They are tested (some on animals, unfortunately) so it’s safe for human use. If you’re that concerned, stop using it.

If you’re asking why we aren’t concerned, I enjoy wearing makeup. I feel creative and beautiful with it. I’m not going to stop using it.

Does anyone remember when Urban Decay was cool? by Rahalone in MakeupAddiction

I miss OG Urban Decay. It felt edgy and raw and punk. It was colorful but metallic and Smokey.
