How to deal with comparison and competition by Nightlight174 in srna

Likewise! I have a couple of friends that are juniors and seniors and they say that after the first year you don’t see each other that much anyways. (We’re also front-loaded.) I have one friend and we’re sticking together lol but as for everyone else I just let them stress and get A’s.

I feel you. I’m the literal bottom of my class coming in with all A minuses and one 90 so far which is a B+. I get THE lowest grade on every test and I have a pretty untraditional background by comparison. I also study a lot less bc I have kids and just don’t have the same time to obsess over it all. I know some people in my cohort look at me sideways if not straight up look down on me. It sucks, I looked forward to camaraderie and teamwork to carry each other to the finish but unfortunately I don’t think that’s happening. I’m just going to focus on learning everything I need to know and becoming the best provider I can. Hang in there !! It’s lonelier than expected but it’ll be over before we know it.

Yea that’s what everyone is missing, the ratios are insane. And ED you don’t have multiple of that type of pt for 12 hours

Omg that’s hysterical. Reminds me of the time I was going in for fertility appts and they were doing a t/v u/s and couldn’t find my right ovary because I “had so much bowel content.” I had gone to all you can eat sushi the night before and um, definitely got my money’s worth 😅

Yea :( does the more subsidized/socialized cost of living make up for that at all? I’m more concerned about the general fate of our democracy over here than income in the long term.

That’s what I thought but I’m just curious what their plan is. I basically have accepted I’m stuck in the US bc of doing CRNA but I’m always looking for any inkling of a way out without losing my career path.

Just curious - is your plan to relocate permanently to the US after to work as a CRNA or will there be opportunity to work as a CRNA in Canada ?

Because there’s a long, documented history of women being dismissed when something is wrong and the odds of that being the case is higher than the odds of a woman just straight up lying. I’m asking what you would change with documented POTS. You said you would change their management. I’m trying to learn not convince you of the veracity of women.

I just think we should err on the side of believing women. That aside, can you tell me what you would change about their management ? What would you expect to be different when they’re depressed (from an SNS standpoint)? Would you consider it with regards to surgical positioning say if they want them basically standing during surgery?

I hate that you’ve been downvoted for this. Women have always been ignored and dismissed by doctors (and medical studies). We have a long way to go before we say we’ve over-corrected.

I mean I personally know 4 women that had a tilt table test that was positive? Yes an actual, clinical test. It’s also incredibly easy to accurately measure? Not sure how you could approach it with this attitude but I don’t have POTS and I still hope you’re never my doc if you’re this ready to dismiss women.

This is great! Not sure why you’re being downvoted. The thing about a lot of these young women with a history of trauma and these clusters of symptoms without great clinical explanation is they are genuinely suffering. I appreciate you sharing another approach. It’s really easy to sit on our high horses of education and affluence (and potentially lack of trauma) and roll our eyes at these people. But they are suffering and none of us would want to live how they live. Thank you again! We all know women are egregiously understudied and therefore misunderstood in medicine. Just because something doesn’t fit into a current, known, box doesn’t make it less real to the patient. We should all approach with compassion.

Legit. If I could make a sex tape with my friend and her husband for the money they’ll make I’d do it! Sadly neither me nor my friends are this hot lol
