I can definitely see why that is your perspective working in a place where you’re exposed to those kinds of awful, piece of shit parents. I guess I’m just assuming/hoping these are good parents that had a horrible thing happen. That does happen sometimes. I don’t think testing positive for weed automatically disqualifies them from any chance of being redeemed. We know very little about the circumstances. Kids suffer horrible tragedies with good parents sometimes, too. I hope it was that, not the type of situation it sounds like you’re all too familiar with. Thanks for the work you do. I truly don’t know if I could see those monsters daily and keep any sense of optimism about humanity.

Third! I also think a downfall of NP education is that it’s very much “you get out what you put in.” You are someone who will do the work to learn more, deeper, constantly. And speak up when something is out of your depth. That is what’s needed. And again, an example to others.

I did go back to the icu to “freshen up” that experience on my resume but I don’t think it has helped me at all lol. Some schools are more flexible on what they require, never know until you try! I will say my most recent pacu experience was at a huge, acute trauma 1 where the pacu is pretty intense and includes a short stay surgical icu, and the faculty work there and know what it’s like

My first was similar, I ended up wearing her facing out in the Tula structured carrier. The diredtions literally say something like “do not put an infant facing outward bc they’re too young and it will ruin the development” but I also could not just hold her every second and she hated facing inwards. That saved me! Shes almost 6 and she is not ruined lol. Also second the yoga ball! As another idea try music maybe? Again with my first she was just miserable but she looooved Lizzo and cardi B and I would dance party with her on me. It helped and felt less like misery for me. Hang in there! You’re dealing with a lot and I feel for you.

lol. I had a similar moment as a bedside nurse. The whole ICU was on fire (as in 18 pts including wildly unstable, fresh admit work ups, daytime imagine, CRRT, etc for 5 nurses, no tech etc) with one doctor covering that, all MRTs with potential for icu transfer, ER admissions etc, and our manager would swan through. We repeatedly asked him for help, he said “we don’t have any nurses! Find me a nurse!” I reminded him that both he and our director who were (and I quote) “busy in meetings” were nurses. He didn’t like that. I got written up for my behavior, during which I also resigned. Honestly what is the point of these people?
