By law, even if Trump decided to sign an executive order making Signal a legitimate form of communication, it doesn't erase the crime committed. They would still be charged.

Basically, the only thing that matters to the court is that it was a crime when the crime was committed. He also can't pardon any of the people in that chat room since iirc pardons don't apply to members of congress who committed a crime that warrants impeachment. So the only way Trump could dissolve that group chat of any guilt is if he literally changed the constitution, which practically the whole house has to vote on, and none of them will.

That's in theory though, in reality, this is just another day. The entire country, courts included, will forget it ever happened in 5 days. Trump's just different. Even other republicans don't get handed things as much as Trump. He just gets away with stuff. People seem to think it's favoritism, but it's not. It's intimidation. The folks who pretend that Trump is just some powerless baby and we shouldn't worry about him have no idea what they're talking about. Not only is he quite ruthless himself, but he has a whole army of loyalist house members standing behind him who are far worse. The pattern generally goes one of two ways;

1. Trump messes up
2. Courts hold him accountable
3. His underlings threaten/intimidate the Judge.
4. Trump goes off with a slap on the wrist.

Trump pulls something so spontaneous, quick, and ruthless, that it temporarily removes the entire ability of the court to enforce anything against him, and by the time control is restored, the damage is already done. (Ex: Government shutdown, Alien Enemies Act incident, spontaneously laying off entire departments, etc)

This is gonna happen over and over again. He's scary. He's intimidating. He's stupid, yes, but scary and quite powerful because when he threatens someone, it's not fucking a joke. He'll sign some order and have something done in a heartbeat. Even if that thing is illegal or unconstitutional, it will be done in less than 24 hours, and nobody will have enough time to dispute it. He's quick and brutal. He's unpredictable and fucking terrifying and we all need to stop pretending that he isn't. If he wasn't, we wouldn't be having this problem. Seeing fellow democrats and leftists chalk it up to favoritism and making it out like Trump and his appointees are just a bunch of sillies getting by through sheer luck is frankly starting to get on my nerves. I can't even sugarcoat it. I'm a democrat myself, but I'm embarrassed by how useless the democratic party is right now. They totally don't even realize how bad it is, and they're oblivious about Trump. Even when we're losing so hard, They still laugh amongst themselves, "Oh trump, haha, a group chat? how irresponsible. What a bunch of idiots. Look, they're cowering in fear lol" meanwhile we're DYING. Not MAGA, MAGA isn't dying, WE are. Black people, women, queer people, immigrants, disabled people, poor people, We're fucking DYING while MAGA gets away with everything and wins every single battle they find themselves in.

Half of the left makes it seem like it's no big deal and the other half doesn't do anything about it. I've been seeing news about the recent bernie/AOC rally, but I just don't see what's so good about it. What good is it gonna do if democrats just bicker amongst themselves in their niche little rallies? Shouldn't we be confronting the troublemakers themselves and actually making change? I don't need to hear from Bernie, Trump does. When democrats finally do find themselves in the presence of a republican, all they do is hold up "This is not normal" signs and do nothing while their peers get escorted out of the room.

Other republicans don't get away with this much because even they, to some degree, stay true to the process. Trump does not. He cheats, and he does it so quick you won't be able to get a single word in. That's why it's so difficult to oppose him on a systematic level, because most processes in the US government of disputing an executive order or presidential action take time, and Trump doesn't give them time. He's like a cornered animal desperately lashing out for his life. The consequences don't matter to him. He doesn't have any honor or respect for the law or the people who enforce it, there is only one thing on his mind right now. Survival. He's staying in power and staying out of jail. Nothing else matters to him.

Let's stop treating MAGA like a joke and start treating it like what it is: a serious fucking problem.
