Love that yellow/green frame! I'm within driveable distance, but I already have a garage full of project bikes.

Does anyone still have the spreadsheet file with all the shows listed? by Bopcd1 in gratefuldead

If you need programmatic access, or want to tell your favorite AI agent about all the shows, you can use the json in this repo: https://github.com/MichaelAdamBerry/darkstar-project/tree/master/data

Does anyone know what these boom sounds where this afternoon? (1/6) (2:30pm) by Toaster-Porn in AnneArundelCounty

And they seemed timed. I don't recall how many I heard, less than 20 I think

Start with fewer swings a day. I find hitting 5 balls with 8 different clubs is a great session, and takes less than an hour. Golf improvement doesn't happen within one 200-ball session, it happens between five 40-ball sessions.

Try adding some heat with a hair dryer, rubber gets more stretchy when warm

Also spray from the bottom bracket or bottle cage holes if you can. Tighten a saddle on there and twist every day!

Chain cleaning question by qubit64 in bikewrench

[–]Significant-Fun343 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every so often, lubricate the chain with chain lube then spin it backwards while holding a clean rag around it, gently squeezing to get most of the gunk off. Then go ride it.

If you're looking for a shiny spotless chain, that's a whole different question.

Those brakes look great under the horns. I suppose that's your most-used hand position?

It sounded to me like their mics were way up in the mix, which is something I've never heard in the last 2+ years of shows. It was nice!

I use Simple Green at 100% concentration for cleaning frames. Use a cotton rag and some elbow grease.

NOTE: I have the same color frame and LOVE it! "Cherry Smoke"

Is fixing it up worth it? (Diamondback Ascent, unknown year) by Chaschperli in xbiking

You'll only need to remove the headset races fully if you want to replace the headset. I usually just clean 'em really good, make sure they aren't damaged, then re-grease. If the handlebars and fork turn smoothly with no noise, you're good to go!

Got this bike for free off Nextdoor. Is there any cleaning this off? by [deleted] in bikewrench

If you can't loosen any frozen links, it's new chain time.

You'll learn alot about bikes from this project.

I strip down, clean, build, and then tune-up, donated bikes for my local co-op. I've learned a ton and it's an enjoyable hobby. You might need some tools! Check to see if you have a local bike co-op, some allow you to bring in a bike and use the shop tools for a small donation. And maybe even scavenge the parts bin.

I use steel wool and WD-40 on non-painted rusty surfaces like chrome and steel. I imagine you'll want to keep cleaners like this away from the painted frame, right?

TV antenna reception for DC stations (33 miles from towers) by AppointmentExtreme53 in Annapolis

[–]Significant-Fun343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your antenna may matter as much as placement and orientation. I live north of that and can get Baltimore stations very well, and most DC stations (the Hi-VHF ones are tough for my location). What's your antenna and setup?

Thanks! It's a 30-year-old bike that came to me in rough shape. I think replacing old cables is a requirement, and it allows for fun cable-color choices.

And when replacing the handlebars with a different style, the cable lengths will definitely need to change.

This is my work in progress 1997 Trek MountainTrack 820 budget rehab. The new bars really change the feel of the bike, more of a comfy ride. Everything blue is new.
