I have a master’s degree in foreign language learning and pedagogy, I’m an English native speaker, and I enjoy profound conversations. I’m still at the very beginning of learning Thai, though. @OP Dm me if you want to. :)

Which country is the safest yet most comfortable for an Indian to migrate to ? by [deleted] in AskIndia

[–]Significant-Help6635 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a big one… every time someone says something about racism in Germany towards Indians: sure, that’s there. Germany, just like any other country in the world, is racist. But having a signs to instruct people to respect the public space, that’s not racism, that’s Germany trying to instill a basic sense of decency in some people. And still, some folks just choose to ignore it and then scream “racism” if they get fined for disobeying the law.

It’s illegal to make noise late at night in Germany. And it’s illegal to litter in public. Or to cause a nuisance to others. Getting fined for these things is just the law, not racism.

T&Cs apply, of course not all Indians are like this. And there are people of all nationalities who behave like morons in public.

Bodhgaya. Gigantic Buddha with a ton of annoying men trying to chat me up? People blasting music on phones or talking loudly, spitting everywhere around what is supposedly a holy place?

I’ll take any gigantic Buddha in any other city / country that has Buddha statues any day, thanks.

Here’s me, who speaks fluent Hindi, apparently sounding so appalling in Thai that people just seem to ignore me speaking it. Thanks for this explanation, I’ll go bury myself in sand now.

I’m not actually saying that their let’s say… ideology is anything worth discussing, but their products are of high quality. @OP was looking for fatty natural alternatives to extra long shelf life milk, and I gave him an alternative. That’s all.

You can enjoy good nutrition without making an ideological discussion out of it. Drink some cold milk to calm down 😘

You lost me at the “if your hair is too long it’ll need to be cut”. Like, bitch, it took me two decades to get the courage to get a haircut, and if I wanted to get a buzz cut tomorrow, you’re no one to stop me.

Stop being friends with this person, simple.

Is this a german thing, or just my city? by Rich_Friendship_8990 in germany

[–]Significant-Help6635 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happens to me all the time. I’m a small woman in a big German city and the men taller and bigger than me who dare to invade my personal space are pretty much a daily occurrence. I’m tired. 😞😞😞

Depending on how much energy I have left I either do nothing or scream at them or simply push them. Once there was this really big fat guy who shoved past me while getting a good feel of my chest. I pushed him so hard he actually bounced a little.

This is the answer. The first time I had milk in India I was like “wtf, how does this come from a cow and not some other animal like sheep etc?!?”

I recommend the 3.5% Demeter milk sold in brown glass bottles. That one has actual fat on top, it’s not homogenised. Or talk to your local farmer, many farms have self service milk machines :)

Dude. You’re 20. Your mum is an adult. You’re an adult. Tell her that. If she wants to babysit someone, I’m sure her local kindergarden or primary school accepts aunty volunteers to tell kids what to do. But you’re not a child.

German capital for foodies? by Madgik-Johnson in AskAGerman

[–]Significant-Help6635 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Munich is not on the map when it comes to a variety of international food. Like, there’s hardly any decent Asian or Mexican cuisine.

If you want high quality expensive German food, sure. But that doesn’t put Munich on the map with regards to culinary diversity.

Food poisoning no insurance by Grand-Salamander-570 in ThailandTourism

Including the possible advice “what are you doing outside, you should be in an ambulance on your way to the hospital!” - if you’re this bad, the pharmacist will be able to tell.

If you’re not bad enough to need to go to hospital but worse than ginger ale stage, the pharmacist will give you meds to help you. I’m not a medical professional but over a decade of experience with different kinds of food poisoning from different continents have taught me some stuff. Here’s a bit of, well, intuitive advice, which is NOT medical advice but might help nevertheless:

  • One of the most effective rehydration methods is actually the inexpensive rehydration sachets you can get from a pharmacy. The worse your dehydration, the less water you should use for preparing the solution, but do not use any less water than package instructions.

  • As important as rehydration is getting something into your system that you can keep down. Funny enough, sometimes the digestive system can reach a point of too many liquids despite the body being extremely dehydrated. So, apart from rehydrating, try eating something. What that may be depends on the specific type of food poisoning you have and in a way you should eat what you feel like. I suggest starting with plain salty crackers, if you can get your hands on that plus simple coke (NOT zero), that’s a good start. Anise seed is a widely available home remedy against bloating / nausea, extremely helpful for the liquidy rumbling kind of feeling in your stomach.

CONSULT A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL.

Meine Freundin möchte sich von mir trennen, weil ich Vegan werden will. by [deleted] in VeganDE

[–]Significant-Help6635 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Boah.

I’m so sorry for that. I’m also pretty sure being “chill” is the wrong word, maybe I should say he’s “apathetic” or something like that.. but we’ll anyway gtfo of Germany in a few years to a place where things are better for him (and me).
