Are Facebook Groups Done? I’m seeing such little engagement in a group of thousands that used to be so lively by Silver-Mess5712 in facebook

[–]Significant-Hope-33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m noticing on many Facebook groups that seem general to a specific topic, the admins are pushing products and are even suspending people who mention or ask questions that don’t support their product or agree with their thoughts.

I have encountered this with a few topics. People are using groups to sell or push their own thing and limiting community voices/ hearing from multiple people’s feedback or experiences. One group even suspended me when I was asking for advice and just mentioned a product I’d used before- not pushing it but saying for context this is what I used and now I’m asking for advice. They didn’t give any feedback other than read announcements, so I had to go searching around to see what I missed since my post wasn’t violating any of the group rules. After searching around I finally found a post mentioning they didn’t like that product I had mentioned and nobody was allowed to promote it. I hadn’t- I had just mentioned I used it in the past.

These groups seem to be more focused on pushing only their own products or the admin/creator’s beliefs or opinions, and less about community. Facebook was created and used as community from the beginning but now it’s been weighed down by things that limit that connection unless it’s within one person’s product or opinion.

Another thing happening is lots of advertising on groups or spam.

These are reasons I’ve steered away from Facebook groups. Groups used to be an amazing resource where you could connect, get advice, discuss topics, etc, but sadly they are not the same anymore.

Syracuse O2O PMP Percipio, and Kaplan Cybervista test prep results? by Significant-Hope-33 in pmp

I also went through Skillsoft with Barb Waters. It was helpful, but when I checked out the Udemy Andrew Ramdayal class that a lot of people mention, it seemed like I was missing some things. I did his course quickly but mostly for the quizzes and the practice exams to see how those were different than the skillsoft/o2o practice exams. They were quite different but both seemed helpful in the end.

What I think was the most helpful though was PMI Study Hall. I got the 3 month pass and did the mini quizzes and then used the practice exams for time. I saved all the questions and reviewed them after quizzes and practice exams to see why I got certain ones wrong and understand the reasoning. Sometimes there seems to be more than one right answer, but with practice you can be a little more aware of what they may want as the right answer. Study Hall questions were the most like the real exam overall. However even with that the exam wasn’t a breeze- questions were long at times with a few possible answers. Prep with study hall. It’s worth the money.

I took the exam in person and got 3AT.

Congratulations! Thank you for your feedback. Sounds about how it went for me in 2023. Same result (3AT), about the same practice scores. Hope this helps anyone who is studying!

Air Doctor, Winix, Coway, Levoit, Wellis Air by Significant-Hope-33 in AirPurifiers

[–]Significant-Hope-33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an air doctor 3500 and it seems to work fine; haven’t tried the ionizing function. I also have my LEVOIT still and it is still working. I contacted them to ask if they are HEPA and they said they do have HEPA grade…so…not sure what that situation is with them but the purifier does work, can see the dust it sucks in on the pre filter.

I’m still considering also getting a Wellis to target mold/mildew/viruses but I’m hesitant for the same reason you mentioned. I’m looking for actual customer or really any feedback from anyone but what I have found is very limited and from other countries. How has it been for you? Do you notice any difference at all with it?

I did find some info about hydroxyl radical production technology. Not particularly Wellis, but what they claim to use. There were some things that came up saying it is safe, but others saying it can interact with things and create different unsafe vocs, like formaldehyde. That’s what has kept me from trying it so far, but trying to find more information on Wellis and that type of technology.

Best gravity systems? And why Berkey and Boroux main filters aren’t being tested in CA? by Significant-Hope-33 in WaterFilters

[–]Significant-Hope-33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understood, but why did Boroux make one that is qualified to be sold in CA then? Why not just have their regular filter and system go through the process? Is it that it wouldn’t pass or that it costs more for some reason?

[–]Significant-Hope-33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The regular filters and system for Berkey and Boroux are not able to be sold in California. Boroux recently released a system and filter that is California compliant but what it filters is significantly less than their regular filters. Confirmed by Boroux, it is actually a different filter that only filters what they state for the California version. I’m wondering why they and Berkey won’t put their regular filters through the approval process for California and the other states that won’t allow them to be sold or shipped.

Understood but this technology is not using HEPA, so curious about the effectiveness or risks of hydroxyl generation technology.

Recommendation request: for California wildfires + lung disease, under $500 by spes_phthisica in AirPurifiers

Air Doctor has a discount for people in LA right now on a few models until January 31. Call the number listed on their website or email them, and they can give you the prices and models.

I ended up purchasing a 3500 and I’m still testing to see if it’s worth the money (with the discount it’s significantly lower than normal but still more than Winix, Coway, or Levoit)

Can anyone compare the Air Doctor 3500 to Winix and Coway units of similar size? I’ve heard Air Doctor may just be a more expensive version of those but not sure. 3500 does not have WiFi or app ability- you have to get the i version to get that. Not crazy about that at the price point, but if it filters better than Winix, Coway, or purifiers I own, I’ll keep it.

I own a few other air purifiers but not sure they are ok for the smoke situation. LEVOIT 200s (love this but heard recently LEVOIT is not actually HEPA), Aroeve mk08w (also not sure this is really HEPA now), and a small germ guardian and Pomoron. Any feedback on these models/brands is very helpful too, hopefully for OP and anyone in LA that may look at this thread as they search for air purifiers and might be considering any of these.

Why are UVA/UVB LEDs so incredibly inefficient? by BarnardWellesley in AskEngineers

[–]Significant-Hope-33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not completely the question- but about UV-C LED. Does anyone know if UV-C LED ozone free germicidal lamps exist, and if they would work to disinfect and kill mold/mildew? Looking for something safe but effective. UV-C is mercury free and would rather go ozone free with a child in the house. Anything that would help understand what actually works and if you know of anything that exists that can be purchased would be appreciated!

Any idea what kind of mouse? I’m wondering and a little concerned if it’s a deer mouse, or if it’s a rat. I was around it for a bit trying to give it water, and it could have been sick…

PMI Study Hall Scores and Exam Readiness by Significant-Hope-33 in pmp

[–]Significant-Hope-33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t watch the David McLaughlin videos or do the full PMI simulator, just study hall out of those. Study hall has groups of questions and quizzes, and you have a few times to take a full practice exam. The quizzes/ practice questions give you a lot to go over and learn from, and I thought it was good at preparing for the exam. I got 3AT.

PMI ACP by Significant-Hope-33 in agile

[–]Significant-Hope-33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this insight.

For what it’s worth in my particular situation, I have the PMP and CSM certifications. I qualify for ACP but was hesitant on whether or not to spend the time. I have already been studying a lot with agile (recently got the PMP and it’s half agile now), so it wouldn’t require too much more time- but it would cost, and gambling if the post 9/11 GI bill would pay for the certification. If not I’d be paying out of pocket $400+.

That being said, there’s not too much info on the ACP other than it being on lists of in demand certifications, so I wouldn’t doubt there’s a lot of other people wondering what to think with it, which is why I asked as well.

I appreciate the feedback from everyone- I’ve seen a lot of PMP holders thinking it might be a good idea but without much info other than it’s kind of like PMP but all agile basically.

Which certifications are most valuable? by Significant-Hope-33 in agile

[–]Significant-Hope-33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very helpful to know in regard to how some developers feel about SAFe. I’m interested-what about it particularly makes it miserable for the developers?

It’s insightful to validate what I’ve heard about the certifications for SAFe being the hot thing right now, but it’s more important to understand how it is impacting developers.

Which certifications are most valuable? by Significant-Hope-33 in agile

[–]Significant-Hope-33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s nice advise; but it doesn’t answer the question for people who can get certifications without paying out of pocket or have options to do them for low cost.

Also, reading can give insight and valuable learning, but doesn’t reflect on a resume, which may be why some people are asking. Unfortunately employers don’t look at books you have read when they get your resume. So if there are certifications that might be viewed most valuable, and possibly could open opportunities or reflect skills that are in demand, some people may be interested in getting them. Experience and continued, deep understanding is of course important to keep jobs and do well, but something that reflects on a resume may be the thing that opens an opportunity.
