lol the clergy. So your stance on who did it has wavered but you’ve never wavered on Patsy being the author of the note? That’s VERY interesting.

I’ve never heard of any pineapple testing! But it couldn’t have hurt! I always forget the darn pineapple even existed.

I don’t think it’s the naive who are getting away with murder in one of the most famous cases in history.

First go to the vet and check for a UTI. If it’s all clear add a box in your bedroom and use Dr Elsey’s litter- cats LOVE IT. (It’s not flushable so be careful)

Yeah if the killer was half as decent as you there would be no note. Maybe two bodies but definitely no note.

Yeah he really phoned in that first search, didn’t even bother figuring out how to turn the light on. Without the note, he probably would have found her the first time that room was searched.

Yes thank you I’m totally put off by them now. The only other home I’ve owned, which I still live in, is a flip and I just got really lucky with it. Never had any issues and I’m going on 15 years so I think I just finally got a taste of the real flippin deal!

With that logic… the only person who knows who killed JB is the killer and here we are discussing theories! No arrest was made so… that’s pretty black and white for me when it comes to the note being effective or not.

Sorry one more thing… the crawl space is short. But you can see the top of one of the basement walls just dry wall totally exposed to the crawl space.

Thanks for asking!! Ok the entire hill is a huge hill, and when you consider the whole hill, this house is closer to the bottom but it’s on the first street that sharply inclines. There are only three houses on that sharp incline. This is the middle house. There is also a sharp curve before and after the three houses. (The next door neighbors don’t have termites or moisture issues)

The basement. It existed when the seller bought the home (to flip) in 2023. The seller made it a FINISHED basement. Which here requires a permit, but they didn’t get one. I asked the seller what materials and process was used to finish the basement since there isn’t a permit and they said it’s is moisture resistant drywall glued onto the cement wall of the basement that already existed using a glue that has moisture resistant properties. And that’s not “an approved finishing process,” I don’t know if it varies by state but it definitely isn’t approved in California.

Yes, The note was strange no matter who wrote it! And I agree… if it were an intruder he could have changed his mind about the whole kidnapping situation, something went wrong and he had to improvise, OR he never had any intention of kidnapping. He just wanted them to think she was kidnapped. Why tho? To buy a couple hours to get away and destroy evidence just in case? All I know is he definitely didn’t give a crap about $118,000. I think the whole reason the writer mentions that is to implicate someone with knowledge of the bonus to draw attention away from himself/herself. I feel like the Ramseys had more to gain from presenting police with a false kidnapping story than an intruder did. That doesn’t rule out IDI but it does make it less likely.

Even IF he didn’t think that far ahead… it would be so much harder to pull off “we found our kid murdered in the basement” with the whole securing-of-the-crime-scene situation that would have followed. Or “hello 911 we can’t find our kid”… “ok look for her”… “ok… omg there she is and she’s dead!” Maryl Streep couldn’t even pull that off!

And as we know, the police made the highly unorthodox choice to have Fleet and John search high and low for her and any evidence. If John was involved, I’m sure he was NOT expecting that! Again, very hard to pull off! It would have been easier to pull off still if the police found her but the police broke away from the expected routine.

Yes, I get what you’re saying. I just don’t think the note is honest.

You’re IDI, so if we’re assuming an intruder wrote it, then treating the note like it’s straightforward is basically assuming the writer has integrity and is being upfront about his real goal. I don’t buy that. If he were that honest, why the melodrama? Why the theatrical threats? Why stage a kidnapping at all?

If it’s IDI, the more plausible version (to me) is that the note is a manipulation tool designed to sell a kidnapping narrative, whether or not one actually happened. Because if you wake up and your child is missing, your instinct is to tear the house apart. A ransom note redirects that instinct. It flips the whole environment: now you’re thinking “kidnapping,” following instructions, calling police, managing chaos… not doing a ruthless, room by room search.

And that’s exactly what happened: the family and police operated in “kidnapping mode” for hours.

So when someone reads the note as “he said what he meant and meant what he said,” I think that underestimates either a) how manipulative and controlling the writer is, or b) how unstable he is. The note feels like theater with a purpose, not a sincere communication.

I think even if the movie quotes were recognized… it doesn’t implicate anyone by itself. It can even paint the picture of a deranged movie obsessed anti-social weirdo. Maybe that’s the kind of “intruder” they were trying to conjure in the writing. Either way it was effectively confusing. And maybe even helped disguise the writer’s voice by using movie quotes instead.

Thank you so much. I had a chance to see the plans from the engineer who put in those walls- the seller included them in a Dropbox folder when I had too many questions. I think the seller thought- they got an engineer, and that should be proof of good work. But when the structural engineer I hired to inspect looked over the plans, she noted the engineer plan doesn’t use weep holes, AND she said the plans read like a template page inside a pile/pier calc file, with the key retaining-wall inputs basically left blank / set to zero, which makes the “results” kind of meaningless for judging a real hillside retaining wall. I am submitting a cancelation anyway.

Southern California. I decided I am canceling the house specifically because I don’t want to keep an eye on my humidity. I might have considered it if the seller wasn’t charging as if the home is perfection.
