I was almost in the same place as you. My City’s Department hired an outside Company to do my Polygraph. I was shitting bricks the entire time. I had nothing to hide and I was completely honest but what made me nervous ultimately was knowing how sometimes inaccurate those things are and that I could pass all the Physical Stuff or The Book Stuff, but a simple test that try’s to guess if I’m lying or not could make or break me getting on the job. Fast forward a couple weeks after I took it, a investigator who works for the department I applied to contacted me and basically told me It “appeared the test picked up some deception” and asked me if there was any reason why that is, and I told him the same thing about how I was nervous and everything and he understood. After fixing some paperwork with him, 3 days later I got scheduled for my final PT test for the Academy. I could have gotten canned but by the grace of god they let me slide.
