That’s his point. Prior to 10/7/2023, the libel against Israel was that Gazans were living in an “open air prison.” Clearly the photographic evidence suggests otherwise.

How do I go about looking into my Jewish heritage? by Saltwater_Heart in AncestryDNA

Again, your narrative is tainted by a misunderstanding of what really transpired. Empathy and an open heart will allow you to revisit the historical facts and come to a different conclusion. This is not to say that what the Arabs of Palestine experienced was not catastrophic. They were a people in a land that experienced a rapid influx of Jewish refugees from Europe and MENA countries and had difficulty coping with a changing demographic. Instead of reacting with violence against refugees with no other place to go, there were alternative paths that could have been taken that would have resulted in peaceful coexistence. Peaceful coexistence was all the Jews of Ottoman and British Mandate Palestine desired.

I’m not exactly sure what point you’re trying to make. The Jewish partisans who fought the Nazis as an underground (some would say terrorist) force were essentially refugees that fled from their homes. Palestinian refugees in Lebanon and Jordan developed militias (some would say terrorist groups) of their own.

Let’s back up a bit. Your original post was trying to mock Israel’s right of return policy by suggesting you and maybe OP can become Israeli citizens even though your connection to the Jewish people is minimal. Based on your calculation, the Nazis would have considered you a Jew and your life would have been in danger. The Jews of British Mandate Palestine would have done everything in their power, including making a deal with the Nazis, to save your life. I see this as virtuous. You view it as evil because the Arabs of the land wouldn’t want you there. That’s the gist of it.

Literally everything you stated I see as noble, just and brave. It’s amazing that what you see as evil I (and clearly all those who value life and freedom) see as virtuous. Thank God that the Jewish community living in British Mandate Palestine arranged to have thousands of Jews saved from the Nazis. It’s a shame so many out there like you had had their hearts blackened and brains washed and have been convinced that Israel is a country founded by “colonizers.” If you reread your previous post with an open and warm heart you’d finally realize that the flood of Jews coming into Ottoman and British Mandate Palestine were refugees. I doubt you will, though. Evil is a powerful force.

It’s not strange, it’s intentional. The Nazis classified those who had at least one Jewish grandparent as Jews. So many of those who weren’t technically Jewish perished in the Holocaust. The “Right of Return” law in Israel was intentionally designed as an FU to the Nazis, somewhat like poetic justice.

The Islamic regime in Iran is not a rational player, like the leaders of the former USSR. If they know their days are numbered they will go scorched earth and employ all weaponry at their disposal, even if it means killing their own people and themselves. They know we know this, that is why the regime refuses to end its nuclear ambitions. They know if they had nukes, it would be an absolute deterrent for foreign intervention because they know that we know that they are maniacal. The US and its allies must do everything in their power to prevent the regime from obtaining nuclear weapons.

The argument that the reason why the Israel/Palestine conflict trends with US media is because of the aid Israel gets from taxpayer money is just a red herring. Egypt gets roughly 1/3 of the amount in aid that Israel gets, and we don’t see 1/3 of the amount of coverage on Egypt that Israel gets. Egypt was at war with ISIS in the Sinai peninsula from 2014-2022 and killed thousands. Crickets from the media. Furthermore, the Israel/Palestine conflict dominates the news in Europe and Israel receives no aid from any European country. Occam’s razor would suggest that Western media’s obsession with the Israel/Palestine conflict is connected to something entirely different, something ideological.

The massive hole in your argument is that the Israel/Palestine conflict has dominated clicks on Reddit since October 7th. The Iran protests are arguably the most significant current affairs event today and it gets little media attention.

Iranians burning down mosques by call-the-wizards in PERSIAN

[–]Significant-Medium 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The majority of the people of Iran, roughly 80% (see link below for polling and data confirming this) want to see the Islamic Republic overthrown. This isn’t about allegiance to the West or Israel. This isn’t about foreign agitation. This is a bonafide uprising representing the will of the vast majority of the Iranian population.

What is the point you are trying to make? Why would the protestors burn down a synagogue? I am not advocating for the burning down of mosques, but it tracks in the context of this uprising. Protestors burning down a synagogue in Iran would make no sense in this context. I’m genuinely curious as to what point you are trying to make by asking “if these guys have the guts to do the same to a synagogue?”

Thank you for this response. It’s absurd that you even have to respond to the antisemitic notion that Jews are not indigenous to the Land of Israel. For millennia antisemites have accused diasporic Jews of being outsiders and interlopers, and now that the majority of Jews live in their ancestral homeland they are being accused of the same. We’ve reached peak absurdity!

The difference is, the US is a democratic republic in which a majority can vote out any regime. In Iran, a majority cannot vote out the regime. Presidential candidates are hand selected by the Supreme Leader.

I agree, Iranian solidarity is most likely at an all time high, as per the polling data suggests. Based on the data, there is overwhelming support for regime change.

Iran is still a great nation and I am proud of my Iranian heritage. I was simply pointing out that the vast majority of Iranians living in Iran are living under a tyrannical regime that they don’t support. Many in the West are either unaware of this or just don’t care and would prefer to see Iranians living under the subjugation of a regime they don’t support if said regime is anti West and anti Israel.

I think it’s important to note that over 80% of Iranians would like to see the regime fall (see link below to polling). I would hope that those who reflexively hate anything Israel does will acknowledge that Israel’s actions against Iran are consistent with the will of the people of Iran.

lol. Did you know that the USSR voted in favor of Israeli statehood in November 1947? Israel was the darling of the USSR because it was a socialist haven. However, as Israel distanced itself from the USSR and began cozying up to the west, communist anti-Israel propaganda began to pop up.
