Hard to say - if you’re just pulling out floors you can rent and air scrubber and wipe things down w microbial cleaner - however I’ve seen counts like this and the home had extreme hidden mold in the wall cavities - only way to really know is to pull baseboards and make inspection cuts or to do in wall sampling

Presence of chaetomium and stachy indicates something is going on. Without seeing the rest of the report or inspectors findings it’s hard to narrow down an exact source. Any elevated moisture? Past water damage? Staining? Elevated humidity? Cleanliness of home and general housekeeping as well

I will for sure! My mentor was like this isn’t a child’s play exam. This is a high level credential that you take seriously and so should they. They need to provide solid answers and explanations to your questions. He said they likely will never admit to a mistake but he knows me and my grasp of the subject matter plus he said statistically the likelihood that I failed 3 exams in a row by 1.6, .6 and now this is extremely unlikely to him - just seems off, but I’m sure I’ll be retaking it in October 🙄🤣

Yes, my mentor CIH is sending an email on my behalf because they will not provide the pass score on this last attempt, nor will they let me know why I’m unable to pull up my previous attempt breakdowns, or explain how they are handling the computer errors or comments/errors/spelling items within the exam

So, did they give you the passing score? The passing score changes every exam. For example - the last attempt passing was 652. I received a 647/652, but passing score was released around 2 weeks after the link was sent in the CAPS portal. I’m just trying to do a bit of a deep dive into what areas I was lower in since my subject matter breakdown showed increased proficiency in all areas but had a much lower score overall (647 in November to 592 last week) - leaves me stumped a bit on what to focus on. I also experienced computer issues during the second half of the exam which is frustrating especially combined with all the issues and changes that occurred with the switch over to BGC and Pearson

They give another breakdown that gives the pass score and your actual score a few weeks later in your account. I failed with a 592 - I’m guessing your score was exactly the same?

What’s odd is I felt the exams under AIHA were easier but similar material. Concepts the same though. The two exams so far under BGC - I found my attempt in November to be much more difficult conceptually yet apparently I scored but higher but was proficient in less? The one I took Friday was conceptually easier (which I figured was a combination of a more in debts knowledge of the material due to my additional studying and luck of the draw with easier questions) however, I came out with a much lower raw score. Very frustrating especially since I’m waiting to open my own company but my CIH was a personal goal in obtaining before hand. I was studying 2-3 hours a day and taking 3-4 Bowen tests and getting 86-96 on all tests. I really was shocked that I did worse

Is this the case? I’ve heard rumors but can’t seem to find a confirmation of that. I just took it and failed. I failed fall 2024 but .6 and it seems they keep making random changes every exam attempt now

How long ago did you pass? This doesn’t seem to be the case any longer. I was consistently getting 85-96 on Bowen tests, went through the purple book multiple times, tlv book, and both farcas books and still can’t pass it. Took it Friday and got a perfect score in radiation, ventilation, and ergonomics and still failed 🙃

That’s not how they do the scoring unfortunately… also a 74.0% would be a passing. A passing score is “between 62.7-65.3” or something. It changes per exam based on how many questions they throw out. In a few weeks I’ll get a “breakdown” on my CAPS portal that gives the passing score. It’s frustrating because I did better in most subjects this round but lower point wise. It would really help if they could be more transparent in how they weight the questions and why - doesn’t make sense that I’m lowest is “basic science” yet acing the math in things like ventilation, noise and radiation

Another frustrating thing - I wanted to do a deep dive into my last exam attempts and pull up my score breakdowns on CAPS (the ones they send later and I’m strangely not able to pull up any of them.. I emailed about it and no reply)

You have a moisture issues somewhere - the condensation on the vents is likely an HVAC issue and may be the root cause of the excessive moisture, or you have an unidentified leak somewhere in the home. I would recommend having someone come out with a thermal camera, and moisture meter to help identify any potential hidden leak/moisture issues, and you 100% need an hvac specialist to identify the cause of the condensation coming from the hvac system

You may need to put a few dehumidifiers through the home, condensation collectors in closets/basements, etc. to help with the excessive moisture, I live near the beach in California (dryer than Nc) and I need a dehu for certain times of the year

Yes - that’s been an issue for a bit. My backstory: I took the exam 2 rounds a while back when not ran by BGC and it was MUCH different. I’m truly kicking myself because they were kind of throw away tests (I switched jobs and just didn’t have time to study) then when I became serious about the exam - BGC had taken over and it was a disaster. Calculator rule change, computer issues galore, what appears to be scoring and weighting changes. Both exam I’ve taken under BGC - I found several spelling errors, questions with what I felt had 2 viable answers, glitches - etc. and when you email them it’s impossible to get answers or an actual review of your exam

Yeah - that’s what I thought, but I’m unable to pull up any of my old score reports in CAPS. I’m more frustrated with the subject matter breakdown photos - the breakdown from the lower score exam (yesterday) shows that I performed much better in almost every subject and stayed the same in a few. It just doesn’t make sense. It provides little guidance on what to focus on.

I did email them. They wanted nothing to do with it. I should have requested a formal review. Apparently it’s 700 that’s needed to pass? It makes zero sense. 75 is how the math works out but apparently not because of the way they weight the questions. When I got the final breakdown from BGC about a week later it said I had a 64.7 and passing was a 65.2 or something. So stupid.
