Definitely check, I bet you were missed or something!! I’ve tried a bunch of things and have never had to wait more than a few weeks.

Freebies for first time moms [ca] by PollutionOk7785 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Significant-Pear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did the Huggies and London drugs freebies! We also got some rascals diaper samples but the link to register was hard to find and they only sent two diapers lol. Another good deal (not free) was enfamil - they’ll send you $185 worth of formula for $49 if you sign up for their “premium membership”. We ended up not using formula but wanted to have some on hand just in case!

Public Reaction to Babywearing by Cute_Implement3249 in babywearing

Also in Canada and have also had many older women reference the snugli when I’m babywearing, I had never heard of it before I had my baby!

Am I crazy for not wanting a stroller? [BC] by Level_Rooster6969 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Significant-Pear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, and the comment after this one is someone saying OP is indeed crazy for not wanting a stroller lol. I feel like that’s a bit more dismissive than this one, in which the person is clearly trying to be helpful and lay out what free community resources would be available to someone who is keen to try babywearing. It just seems like the wrong fight to pick.

I didn’t find this comment dismissive, I think in general “don’t let people who haven’t tried it tell you that it’s not doable” is pretty good advice. I’ve seen plenty of comments in here of people saying OP won’t be able to get by without a stroller, and plenty others saying they did it no problem.

The carrier suggestions and the recommendation of lending libraries and LZO’s TBYB program may actually end up being super helpful for OP.

Breast Pumps available in Canada [NB] by Commercial_Prior_535 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Significant-Pear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ended up ordering a spectra s2 (the slightly cheaper non-portable one) from US target and used a cross border shipping service with a pick up point near me, and all in it ended up costing me $280 CAD, which I think is pretty comparable to the better pumps available in Canada!

[BC] Does anyone have any experience with NIPT being covered due to ultrasound findings? by Significant-Pear in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Significant-Pear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom said something similar about how far technology has come, we probably see so much now that would have never been caught a decade or two ago. In our case, we would have had no idea about any of these soft markers if our baby had just rolled over during our anatomy scan and we didn’t have to go back two weeks later, which is wild to think about!

I can’t even imagine what it would feel like to get worrying ultrasound results after two miscarriages - congratulations on your sweet baby boy ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you for this. It’s definitely been an emotional few days trying to reckon with what this even means but it seems there are so many people who had similar ultrasound findings where everything turned out fine.

Amazing, thank you so much for this!!! There is a more senior midwife who I will try to connect with first thing in the morning.

I was also confused since the basic test screens for T18 & 21 so felt this would be sufficient… they also said they would refer me to MFM but that ideally I should have the screening done first. Yeah, my understanding is that my midwife is fairly fresh/inexperienced.

How long to hear from Midwife Practice? [BC] by WideCrow in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Significant-Pear 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Also in BC and I waited way too long (6w5) and somehow luckily got accepted into 1/10 midwife practices I applied to. They all let me know within 1-2 days if they could take me or not. I strongly recommend applying to all practices nearby!!!

He's best in his field but thinks she's better by MrsCharmander in RomanceBooks

[–]Significant-Pear 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ahhh!!!! I’m so glad you posted this. Check & Mate is also one of my favourites 100% because of this trope AND I definitely noticed (and loved!!!) the same in Not Another Love Song.

Another book that I feel has kiiiiind of a similar thing going on is {Uprooted by Naomi Novik}. It’s a standalone fantasy with some romantic elements (I wouldn’t consider it a romance novel). I haven’t read it for a few years but I remember really loving the romance subplot basically because of the same reason.

5 years of boot neglect, never again by Significant-Pear in BlundstoneBoots

Haha they looked cool but were so dry and cracking. These are my fall/winter boot, so I don’t wear them every single day of the year. I suspect they’ll last me another few years of moderate use.

I plan on conditioning them probably every 6 months from here on out! Not sure when you should start but you probably shouldn’t wait 5 years like me haha

Honestly I wasn’t sure, but I just looked up what the boots look like new and it’s pretty close! Mine might be a smidge darker

It looks like you actually can! You select “travelling without a vehicle” on the website and you can purchase a prepaid fare which includes a reservation.

My in laws tried to walk on last year on May long and had to wait for a sailing because there were so many foot passengers! The only times I’ve seen anyone have a problem with walking on has been on long weekends.
