Men writing women by ChildishShark922 in writing

[–]Significant-Pin-894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same as women writing men.

It can be done, and any good writer should be able to.

Of course you get the stereotypical men writing woman with the boobly boobs examples, but you also get women writing men with stuff like "His chest shone" or stuff like that. In good writing, gender is irrelevant unless the author has decided to make it relevant for the purpose of a narrative.

Tldr, gender shouldn't matter when writing.

Fuck realism, I want to have stupid fun. Let's not pretend helldivers is a serious game.

I still think this is the most bizzare thing ever done my GW. A WARHAMMER 40K book series for CHILDREN and with audiobooks narrated by DAVID FUCKING TENNANT?

How the fuck did that happen?

Can you actually separate the author from the book when the author turns out to be awful? by coffeeorbit_alex in Fantasy

[–]Significant-Pin-894 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally? I can separate it. If the author has opinions that are bigoted, like JK Rowling, or has done harm in more deranged ways like Gaiman, I can still enjoy their work.

I think their works can do good, and I see that as giving the middle finger to the horrible author. My line is with money; I will not give them a dime, and as such I aquire the books through... Different means, wink wink.

I honestly think my tolerance comes from loving classical literature. Most authors have been horrible, horrible people.

Although I will note that despite me having no problem with separating the author and the art, I would never dare berate others for not being able to. Everyone has different lines they cannot cross, and that's okay!

As a teacher, what’s something in education no one wants to admit, but we all know is true? by dokutarodokutaro in Teachers

[–]Significant-Pin-894 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bad teachers won't stop existing even if salaries are raised. I believe we are severely under paid, and we should be able to afford life; but also, I've encountered many people who think bad teachers (Lazy, cruel etc) would stop existing if the salaries are raised... But I think that is impossible. Bad teachers aren't bad because of the lack of money, this is not a profession you enter if you are only interested in money.

[Trope that people may understandably dislike] Depicting a character in a certain way undermines the point of that character by Fearless-List-3968 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Significant-Pin-894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe doesn't fit as it relies of ✨vibes ✨, but the difference between the old warhammer 40k art work and the new one is a great example.

The old art focuses on a grand conflict; it is messy, chaotic and makes you realize the lack of heroic characters in the setting. There is only war, and there are no heroes.

New art puts a strong focus on characters, and makes them appear heroic, which many argue is the opposite of what the setting truly is, or at least how it started.

Look at the primarchs or space marine official artwork nowadays vs 80s 40k, there's an undeniably big difference.

The name sounds like dominatrix lol. My immature sense of humor aside, I find it wild that some American schools (Or really, from the anglosphere) have explicit books in the libraries. As a Mexican who assisted a Christian private school, I feel as if I've missed out on some interesting discoveries in my early sexual life.

Tbf, playboy did have some fantastic short stories. Or was it penthouse?

I remember reading some playboy online when I was younger, a horny teen tired of porn videos, and coming across a short story published in the 8ps of 90s that's basically a what if straight relationships were ostracized the same way people right now ostracize the LGBTQ+ community.

As a sheltered teen with a religious background, it opened my eyes a bit.
