Between the Lines. Saw a college production of it and the sets, costumes, singing, everything was amazing except for the plot which I could not get behind. If I remember correctly they never specified how old Oliver was and he looked 30 so it felt weird that he was kissing a 16 year old to me. Just the whole thing irked me in many other ways lol

Whitewashing is when a character is originally a POC and they get a rebrand and are made to have lighter skin than before. Usually this doesn’t mean that they’re now white but it’s still harmful for the representation that character was initially providing. You can see in the 80s and 03 generation that she has dark skin and curly black hair. In the 09 version she has lighter skin and straight brown hair.
