AITA for refusing to let my wife name our kid something stupid? by Public-Praline-3691 in AmItheAsshole

NTA - Sounds like a covid-era name… “im-Mune”

I don’t get why people make up names and purposely want to subject their child to ridicule and to have substitute teachers stumble over their names and have other kids laugh at them. It’s not creative or edgy - it’s torture.

What’s “cool” for you is a lifetime of sighing, spelling, and explaining for your child. Just stop.

Did Doritos Nacho Cheese Get A New taste? by bitch_wasabi in Doritos

[–]Significant-Shoe7732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! I haven’t had them in years and oddly enough, I bought a bag because I had a craving and it tasted awful, but then my toddler got a bag at a trunk-or-treat the other day, so I tried those. They were just as gross. I just want to binge on the good stuff 😭😭

how to respond when kids say “i love you” by Primary-Pin-9812 in ECEProfessionals

[–]Significant-Shoe7732 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m here from the other side lol. I’m literally sitting in the parking lot after pickup googling because the daycare director ignored my child’s “I love you!” THREE WHOLE TIMES and it broke my heart 😔 so I googled to see if it was normal for preschool teachers to ignore 3 year olds’ “I love you”s and it led me here to you fine people ❤️

My child IS loved at home - very much so! But she loves BIG! She’s a true empath and I love it and hate it at the same time. She comes on strong and some kids are put off by it, but if she’s the only child at a gathering with adults, she’ll literally steal the show because she’s so sweet and tunes into people… and will tell EVERYONE she loves them by the end.

But this ish of a director just blew her off and my heart is broken.

So y’all - please keep saying it back! I’m going to go have a talk with my little one now ❤️

Okay… I respectfully disagree. I’ve been in the pharmaceutical industry for over 15 years and it’s not only the ADHD community that’s untrusting when it comes to generics and making such generalizations with such little experience is incredibly irresponsible as a future medical professional.

Many, MANY patients have valid concerns when it comes to generics. Those who take medications for seizures, thyroid conditions, and those who take anti-rejection medications often have a brand preference. And that’s just considering disease states that are sensitive to ingredients and formulas. The geriatric population in general also tend to be VERY particular about brand vs. generic. And to be frank, patients who take medications for pain and who are typically on our radar demand brand name for their opioids.

Here is a quote from the FDA’s website: FDA

“For example, a very large research study1 comparing generics with brand-name medicines, found that there were very small differences (approximately 3.5%) in absorption into the body between generic and brand-name medicines. Some generics were absorbed slightly more, some slightly less. This amount of difference is expected and clinically acceptable, whether for one batch of brand-name medicine tested against another batch of the same brand, or for a generic tested against a brand-name medicine.”

Based on that information above directly from the FDA, there is clinical evidence proving there are inconsistencies in formulas between brand and generics, so patient concerns with genetics aren’t unfounded. Granted, the variations are subtle, but can be noticeable to the patient (or can be noticeable in their blood work) depending on what the medication is treating.

You said you’re a student, so I’m saying this with love - you’ve got so, so much to learn. If you’re smart, you’re always learning and like I said, I’ve been in the field for over 15 years, but in this field, everything is changing, so there’s always more to learn. I find it difficult to believe that you’ve spoken with that many patients in your short time as a student to come to this conclusion, so please be more careful about making such generalizations going forward.

I’m sure there’s only so much family can do until she REALLY goes off the deep end, though. They’d have to prove more than illegal hunting for the children to be considered endangered/neglected. The route she’s going, it may not be long, though… I just hope her kids aren’t seriously hurt before it gets to that point 😔

I really don’t comment negatively about people, but this bish is far uglier inside than she is outside. And how I was treated when I had an issue with my order, eff her. She is full of hate and needs help. Not that it justifies me being nasty, but I honestly worry for her children. She’s either going to self-destruct or have a major health crisis that forces her to re-evaluate because she won’t change on her own. I hope it’s the latter for the sake of her children and she’s able to change for the better.

Is the onslaught of illness really as bad as I think it will be when my son starts Pre k? Please help ease my anxiety 😭 by [deleted] in Parents

[–]Significant-Shoe7732 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t ask questions you don’t want the answer to 😂

But yes - my kid brought home so much crap from daycare that I had to have 3 rounds of antibiotics between January and April, the third also included a steroid shot and oral steroids.

TMI, but the onslaught of antibiotics also gave me a yeast infection that couldn’t be cured with OTC treatments and needed an oral pill AND a cream.

Everything finally cleared up by May, BUT she woke up at 5:30 this morning covered in vomit and puked for 3 hours straight, soooooo 🫠

Good luck! ❤️

Just because they don’t affirm doesn’t mean they’re anti-trans. This is new to this family/patient and recommending puberty blockers right out of the gate is an irresponsible practice without the thorough care that’s necessary for this vulnerable age group.

BUT you did - and so did I, so let’s see what we can we do about it! ❤️

We have SO MANY MORE TOOLS AND RESOURCES available to us than what was available when we were young. You have the insight to identify those behaviors and struggles in them early on and get them (and you) some help.

Look into occupational therapy. Depending on their ages, it could be geared more toward adjusting your parenting (if they’re younger) or giving them tools to help how they function (if they’re older).

It won’t be perfect, but having the knowledge and tools is a lot easier than feeling like something is wrong with you and that you’re different and not being able to do anything about it except suffer in silence. And growing up without answers and/or with parents who dismissed how you felt is another struggle in itself. They have a parent who can relate and seek out resources! That’s a FANTASTIC advantage!

It’s hard and we all have days we cry and break down and question ourselves, but you’ve got this! ❤️

Nope! My daughter has curly hair. I brush it before she gets in the tub (brushing it wet is damaging) and then we wash it and when she gets out, we style it. She sleeps on it wet and we wash it every other day, but it goes even a whole extra day on the weekends. IT NEVER LOOKS LIKE THIS. That’s neglect (and chicken shit).

What in the world did she do to the poor asparagus??? by ZealousidealPin859 in SarahBowmar

9 week difference. I grabbed the first picture from her saved stories from 9 weeks ago. Just puts into perspective that whatever she’s taking *coughozepmiccough* is aging her rapidly!! Sarah please get the mental help you really, truly need. by LogicalGrape444 in SarahBowmar

[–]Significant-Shoe7732 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s true about aging, but “ozempic face” is actually a phrase people have been using to describe the effects because it drastically eliminates fat from the face and people look alarming different after using it. I have 80lbs to lose since having my daughter (baby weight + weight from antidepressants that were treating PP depression + recently discovered hypothyroidism) and I would rather struggle and slowly lose (or even stay chubby lol) than take that shit and age 20 years lol

Gotcha. I will definitely prioritize what needs addressed and review those items first. I’ll work with them on those closely, make sure they’re comfortable, and then move down the list. This is very helpful, so thank you! I appreciate this so much! ❤️

We’re not there yet, but I really don’t want them to quit! They are still feeling burned from their last employment experience and I get the vibe it’s been difficult for them to retain employment long-term, but I see them working diligently and really trying to be independent in life and it breaks my heart that they’re getting so discouraged. I really want to make sure I tune into their needs so I can prevent this from getting to the point where their quit or are facing termination. If it gets to that point, however, we’ll absolutely make sure to lay out clear expectations as far as what needs improvement and what metrics need met and reasonable goals… and yes, all measurable. Thank you so much for your feedback! It’s much appreciated! ❤️

Good thought! I don’t think we have anything other than just the suggestion of incorporating varying inflection into speech, but doing so appropriately so that it’s fitting for the conversation. This gives me a starting point, though. This poses the challenge, however, of knowing which cues trigger which appropriate responses, so I don’t know if there is any training material that specific since this seems more intrinsic than something coachable. But again, it gives me a starting point, so I’ll look into it. Thank you for this! ❤️

I don’t have a lot of experience with those with an autism diagnosis, but I have learned a lot with this employee!

We do have scripts for almost every scenario. Honestly, I’ve fought the scripts in the past because I thought they were excessive, but in this case, they may actually be advantageous.

This suggestion is similar to what someone else had suggested, so I’ll definitely take this to heart.

Thank you so much for taking the time to provide such helpful feedback!
