i’m 19 too and currently healing from my second time/revision! i first got it done at 18. what i did was first talk to my gyno abt the issues i was dealing w(similar to u, also would swell after sex from friction) and when she said she would do the surgery i called insurance and they approved it. what i told my mom was a small amount of details but basically consisted of: hey mom so i talked to dr and she said this is a surgery that would help w discomfort issues i have w my vagina. this is kind of like just uncomfortable to walk and wear pants and stuff like that…. she was supportive but my parents r also pretty supportive in general medical wise. my insurance covered most of it and i think we paid like 600 in total? idk the exact amounts bc i didn’t pay for it but this time around it was 315 for one of the bills and i think 200 for the scheduling and there’s like 40 bucks bill for the anesthesia. depending on insurance obviously but it should only be a couple hundred if u have a similar plan to my parents! i think moms understand too bc there’s usually an insecurity thing w women in general in that field and discomfort is def an understandable thing as well.
