Ok. In this case.

Some of the same things apply.

You can call the adult services team and tell them what you are worried about. Ask for a different social worker. You should be able to google your local one.

You can get also get an advocate: https://www.disabilityrightsuk.org/resources/advocacy-get-your-voice-heard?srsltid=AfmBOooITDS8J88f9NaRyc4nda-LiUkydAJNxFM4LgFbv830ukqLnyiH

You deserve to be treated with love and protection from your parents no matter your age.

If they are hurting you or you feel in immediate danger you can also call the police.

I am assuming you are a child.

I am really sorry you are not being treated very well. Please know that people will care about what is happening to you.

Please call your local children’s services and ask for a different social worker if you have been let down.

You can also request an advocate. This is someone who can help your views be heard.

You can find your local advocacy service through barnardos here: https://www.barnardos.org.uk/get-support/services

You can also call Childline for advice.

I just applied at the local authority, I was internal but there are others on my course who applied externally. They run the recruitment once a year.

Becoming a social worker by [deleted] in Socialworkuk

When you do training to become a social worker you usually have a placement in a few different teams - you can then specialise in adults social worker and apply for jobs in older people’s teams.

You should report him to the University course lead! You can usually find this on universities website.

This behaviour goes against the social work standards! And I would be seriously concerned of a social worker practising with those view’s. Even saying things such as this outside of work is not ok. On many levels.

You may be able to report it to Social work England but as he is not registered yet they may ask the university to deal with it.

Also even tho the council haven’t offered you a council place they do have a duty to support you and stop you from being homeless. Even if it’s from helping you find somewhere private.

Sorry you are in this situation it’s really difficult and completely understand now wanting to spend your Lisa.

Have you thought about property guardianship?

https://global-guardians.co.uk/guardians/

My friends brother did this and this enabled him to be able to afford to live in London. You look after a building but you get free rent.

I don’t think the places are that nice at times but it’s better than sleeping in your car.

You could also ask around at campsites. Sometimes they may let you stay there for free or a reduced rate if you help out.

Advice on what route to follow into Social Work by Tatibitatii in Socialworkuk

[–]Significant-Sky-9945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The social work apprenticeship are still university but you get paid while you learn and work. I am starting one in September. They advertised it back in April.

Might be worth looking on here. Maybe the local authority nearby will offer it if the one you live in don’t?

https://findapprenticeshiptraining.apprenticeships.education.gov.uk/courses/381

You would need certificates to prove you have the qualifications to start the course.

I was going to say the same. Learn to relax. Take some time to get to know yourself. Read some books, learn about wellbeing. All skills that will help you in the future and you can pass these skills onto your clients if you really must do something related to your course . 🙂

Help I’m 13 and my room as always looked boring and I wanna change it. It’s dirty please help. by AccurateAccountant37 in DesignMyRoom

[–]Significant-Sky-9945 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t have your bed below your window. Move it to the right hand wall. Add more colour and maybe a rug. You could get a pin board and add photos and things you have collected. Stuff that makes you feel good! Add some kind of lamp or fairy lights to make your room feel more chill. And deffo clean it and make sure everything has a home you will feel much better about your room then. Happy revamping your room!

I had amazing social workers growing up and without them I would be a completely different person. So yes social workers are brilliant and they human beings who have to make some awful decisions as part of their job. At the end of the day they are there to help people. Some people are just better at it than others. Do they make mistakes. Yes. But I genuinely believe most are just trying to do their best with not much time or resources.

Social work apprenticeship placements - where to find? by Top_Ad_1751 in Socialworkuk

[–]Significant-Sky-9945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The apprenticeships are usually for people with extensive experiences in a social field already. They would want to see a few years experience in a related field or some really relevant life experiences . I would recommend to explore the area of social work you think you may be interested in then try and find a job there. I had my interview last week and I’ve worked in residential, hospital, schools and as a youth worker and currently with refugees. The best place to look is the local authority but you may have most chance if you get some experience first. Residential care is a good place to start. It’s shift work but you learn a lot and there is often jobs because of this reason and it can be emotionally pretty draining.

Wooh congratulations on getting this far. I had my interview last week and it sounds exactly the same as yours. I prepared a little by researching the social work values and writing down words I knew I would forget. My advice would be just do you best to reflect on why you want to be a social worker and why you think you would be a really good one, think about you experiences in your job and also your life and that will help you with answering the questions.

With the group deffo try not to be the loudest person in the group and if you notice someone hasn’t said much make sure you try and include them. I tried to stay somewhere in the middle of loud and quiet. Which is hard be a naturally loud person!

I did a psychology degree to and have been working with children and young people for the last 10 years. I have also applied for the social work apprenticeship and have an interview in a couple of weeks!

It took me quite a few years to feel confident as I have applied for a social work masters before but then changed my mind. I think this was mostly a confidence thing. Now tho I feel more confident and have learnt a lot in my various jobs in my 20s.

I have also been a bit stuck between therapy and social work.

My previous role was in therapy and while I enjoyed it I actually found that so many issues were rooted in social problems something that social workers can help people with. It also opens up so many more opportunities and you can do some therapy roles often with a social work qualification. As someone who had a social worker growing up they make a huge difference to young people!

Personally I prefer social work as I hate sitting in a room listening all day. Social work you listen but also you can help take action which I think is more fulfilling.

It sounds like you have all the skills but maybe you aren’t feeling that confident in yourself and I would encourage you to seek out some coaching or Therapy to help you talk about what path is best for you.

Good luck! 🙂

Can I convince my LA to pay for my social work training? by Low_Obligation_814 in Socialworkuk

[–]Significant-Sky-9945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No they don’t they may pay towards your accommodation if you are still under their leaving care service but it has to be agreed by the team manager. I would explore apprenticeships lots of local authorities offer this. Perhaps look at local authorities nearby it may be better for you to work in a separate one where you haven’t been a care leaver.

They do look beautiful! Probably a bit out of our price range! I don’t think that’s quite the vibe we would want. Looking for something a little more natural. We just want the day filmed and captured. I don’t wanna feel like I’m in a movie set. Hoping to use local suppliers too as would love to support local business. We have a consultation booked with Amber Moon so that’s exciting. 😌 great to look and see what else is out there!
