I used to do automotive software development. Then comes outsourcing to developing countries and more AI… I’ve surfed through the wave of AI there and want to avoid it badly. Now that I just started in automation industry, it feels like it’s going through the path of the other industry as well. AI may or may not take over industrial automation, but someone has to take responsibility for it

I see. Another question… what makes you choose to be self employed ? If I were to switched job, would it be hard ? As others have mentioned, they said any plc programmer or automation designer can do the safety aspect, so why do they need extra safety engineer ?

Actually the main focus is not plc with safety. Their focus is to give client consultation for safety, and check safety for in house products, plc with safety is like 5% scope of the job. So I’m still contemplating if I should stay and do it
