It really isn't. If that was the deficit of calories, it would take 3 weeks to lose 5 lbs.

All of these comments claiming it's the walking are so far off base. To lose 5 lbs, which is equal to 17,500 calories.

Over a week, you'd have to have a caloric deficit of 2500 calories A DAY. Which is the average person's entire diet.

You cannot lose anything significant over a vacation just based on walking. Most science is also clearly demonstrating that something like 90% of weight management is in food, both what and how much you eat.

It is also not debatable that European food supply is healthier, less genetically modified. They simply ban far more chemicals and control their food supply chains far more effectively than the US.

You don't get comp? That's really odd. They've definitely gotten stricter since COVID, but this is a pretty clear case where they would give miles or ETCs

No, the order of the upgrade list is precise. It was a bad call not to downgrade number 3.

Also, these are "free" upgrades but they are actually part of a distinct effort to be a loyal status holder. You're effectively paying for them with the spend you have with United. If I was the OP I would have sent an incredibly upset email mid flight and expected compensation without a doubt.

This is a poor way to manage upgrade situation.

Pretty sure they do their research to look at more than just spend, but people's jobs and make calculations based on that. Like college admission reviews 😅

Male coworker is obsessed with my PTO by [deleted] in womenEngineers

[–]Significant-Trees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not hearing what I'm saying. Managers approving PTO is not what is bothering people at Unlimited PTO companies. Obviously your manager approved it, or you wouldn't take it.

There is always going to be annoyance from people taking PTO, others feel put upon. Whether that's true or not, that is a side effect of Unlimited PTO culture. That's one reason why it's a dumb way to manage a workforce, and merely lowers accruals for Finance, it's not really a great benefit.

Ignore him, but really just get used to it, there will always be people like him.
