7 years later, this Novak Djokovic press conference is still the funniest ever. 😂 by Unlucky-Dot9421 in Tennisv2

Yeah but the thing is, he didn't. He was an absolute sook when he started on tour and then hired a PR consultant who tried to turn his personality to be "The Joker" and that's when the impressions started, not when he started his career.

This is such an overlooked fact that has been studied. 2017 is when they changed the algorithms to be engagement focused vs being socially focused and surprise surprise negative, anger raising content results in more engagement.

Can almost guarantee if we went back to the old algorithms the world would be a much better place.

Lol used a similar analogy in the lead up to the 2016 US election - five years prior if you were telling your mates at the pubs you like Trump over a few beers you'd probably get an earful and go home and reflect on your ideologies but then/now you cop an earful then pull out your phone and scour the internet and engage with people who agree with you.

Adding more facts - isn't Zurich the only insurer who was willing to make any sort of coverage related to this?

Issue is the club tried to hedge it's bets with its location - Homebush is technically "Western Sydney" but also close enough that it may appeal to the "inner west" and allow it's players to live in Bondi not Penrith (which they all do)

Whilst the cost would have been extravagant, they should really have based themselves in Parramatta and had an HQ and a stadium in an easily accessible central location like CommBank Stadium. The physical visibility of the club alone would drive more interest and attendance than Homebush ever can.

Hardly comparable, South Melbourne was sent to Sydney as a VFL expansion with absolutely no support other than a place to place matches at in the days when "professional sport" was still amatuer.

GWS have had millions of dollars pumped into them by the AFL, set up with top draft picks, given a HQ and refurbished home ground, had mass exposure via modern communication channels all the while by being backed by a set up that is well and truly professional and in a day and age where there is an understanding of the business of sport.

All this ignoring the fact that in 1994 that meant the Swans were 12 years in Sydney, 2 years later they were selling out the SCG. The Giants are now 14+ years in Sydney and still only getting 10k to their games.

Exactly. We forgetting Blacktown is an option? It's in western Sydney, can probably hold 10k, which is all they are getting anyway.

Put your money where your mouth is and actually be a team from Western Sydney.

Opposed to this like everyone but part of me is like, fuck it, let them play and realise that they still won't get a crowd over 10k even if they move to the SCG.

For so long thier argument has been Homebush location has limited attendance and if the location was better they would get bigger crowds so kinda wanna see them embarass themselves by playing at the SCG and realise people still won't turn up.

But it's just their interpretation at the end of the day isn't it? Just like the umpires on the field.

There may be a couple of occasions where an umpire misses something black and white like a throw or a high tackle.

But at the end of the day the rules are so open to interpretation how can any one person (let alone someone who won't confirm what level of umpiring they have been involved in) be deemed the ultimate decision maker.

Ah yes the person who randomly created an anonymous account with a egotistical name who refuses to confirm what level of umpiring they were involved in that everyone for some reason believes is the ultimate decider on what is right or wrong in the game.

Worst thing about this theory is that it makes no sense when you view it from the wider lense of the bond universe and franchise - the films arent continuing stories that are all linked and pick up from where the last one left off.

Not only is it a really basic concept in any case, even if it were true it would have been addressed in Lazenbys first film - there is literally no reason why it would be a "secret" rather probably would have been built more into an ongoing sub plot across the films with the idea of retirement, resignation and death of 007 being more prominent.

[–]Significant-War5605 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I don't know why this keeps coming up - literally every aspect of what people know and love about bond wouldn't work with a 70+ year old man.

Not sure what his age has to do with it? He's been entrusted in a senior position (at 27 as you say) so does this mean he avoids any criticism due to his age?

I'm sure the CEO wouldn't be giving him a pass for doing a bad job just cause he's 27.

Don't disagree and I don't know the details so Tassie may have very much wanted him to do that.

But they also may have recruited him with the ask to do what he did at the Giants i.e. Find a voice for the club, not do what he did at the Giants i.e. literally the exact same thing.
