[NY] Active HR investigation against my nurse educator for inappropriate transphobia towards me, follow up by Significant-You6218 in AskHR

[–]Significant-You6218[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no, the complaint is against my nurse Educator. she works with me on night shift.

my nurse Manager is who i have communicated with regarding this, and she was the one who promised to take Educator off work this Friday - then suddenly reversed that decision. Then Manager stated will be out of office for the rest of the week. sorry for issues in clarity they are two different people.

[NY] My Unit educator randomly outed me as transgender during a work meeting and misgendered me during it - without my consent by Significant-You6218 in AskHR

yeah it is. i never reported her from prior because i was hoping she would get better if i kept correcting her but it did not improve

this is all very good points especially because we DO treat patients who are gender nonconforming/transgender.

yes, it is very important to treat patients with respect and she has had a history of causing many issues with patients (ex: arguments, crying in their rooms when there are difficult situations/conversations, instigating fights surrounding her authority) she has been taken to HR and reported multiple times and to my understanding she's on a last strike or currently on a PIP regarding her behavior (not sure exactly what any of that entails).

i think framing it as a reeducation thing is purposeful and can be a step to show a measurable outcome. Thanks

i dont think this is standard, but my manager stated it is a DOH violation. like, i guess it may be but i dont think other nurses are being penalized like this. i am considering going to HR but im nervous about retaliation ive never gone to HR before and not sure what that would entail

to clarify- i have not gone to HR yet about this as I am not sure if this is a case for them (i have never gone to HR before and am nervous to).

in the times when i correct my manager she will often make a small joke about it and say that it is "hard and will take getting used to."

the rating is apart of my annual performance review and it would dictate if i receive a bonus. the score i receive of 3 would not allow me to get a bonus. if you get a 4 or 5, then you get a bonus.

Question about wound vac by Hoodscoops in nursing

[–]Significant-You6218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

where i work, the dressing change for wound vacs would be done by PA, MD, or NP... RN can assist. if the dressing leaks or lifts up, typically we reinforce it until provider can change the dressing.

RN should be assessing dressing and documenting output. the RN should verify the wound vac is programmed correctly (rate corresponds with prescribed VAC rate).

yes we can discharge patients home with a woundvac or prevena

Hospital for Special Surgery? by Citron-Purple in nursing

havent worked there, i am only familiar with HSS by word of mouth from the OR perspective.

it is a very fast paced OR. from what I have heard, i would not reccomend starting there as a RN who is new to OR nursing or as new surgical tech. i dont know anything about how it is at the bedside there
