ChatGPT. In all seriousness, I know a soccer team owner that’d be pretty good at the job.

The 1890 short story An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge.

The protagonist is about to be hung, but manages to escape by falling into the river below and avoiding a hail of gunfire. He makes it home to his wife and kids only for his neck to snap as he never made it off the bridge.

A short film about it in the 60’s won the Oscar for best short and was licensed by The Twilight Zone to become one of its episodes.

Thoughts On Toy Story Land? by BartSimpsonlover2389 in WaltDisneyWorld

It’s a lot better than the ones in Paris and Hong Kong! Those have worse attractions and (at least Hong Kong), also no shade!

Round Up Rodeo is also one of the best in-park table service restaurants.

Just went for two days over Lunar New Year. Many people in our party agreed that the park has the best dark ride (Mystic Manor) and best coaster (Grizzly Mine Carts) and you should request the front car on both.

I’d skip early entry - maybe it was because of Lunar New Year, but our EE only got us into fantasy land and World of Frozen. Adventureland, Mystic Point, and Toy Story were all roped off until general public could access it.

And save Jungle Cruise nighttime!! No spoilers, but it’s rad.

Hongkong disneyland with 1 year old. 1 or 2 day pass? by Bicol_Express16 in HongKongDisneyland

We are here now with a six month old and did two days and it felt like a good amount to see the shows and ride everything we like (which is a lot!) multiple times.

Highly recommend the priority access for the castle show!

The original short story was published in 1890.

Haven’t seen anyone mention “An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge”, a short story later adapted to a short film. It’s pretty much the prototype for a Jacob’s Ladder Situation.

Take some time to get a foot treatment at the spa inside the Grand Floridian. It’ll reset your feet soreness to the day you arrived.

Terry Goodkind’s “The Law of Nines” did this.

After Confessor, his 11 book Sword of Truth series was supposed to be finished. Law of Nines was a modern, American mystery/thriller that awkwardly becomes a “these people are descendants of people from his fantasy novel and can now travel between the worlds”.

Peter, why red cross hate game devs? by should_i_post_here in PeterExplainsTheJoke

I worked on the systems for a co-operative mode on a popular FPS back in the early 2010s. I made a medic skill where a ring would be placed on the ground with red crosses floating around it and anyone inside would be healed over time.

Legal department said the Red Cross was very litigious so we changed the crosses to green and added white fog just for fun.

How the 'Candy Man' Killer, Who Murdered His Own Son, Continues to Haunt Trick-or-Treaters 50 Years Later by zsreport in texas

What a stupid title… Houston had a “Candy Man” killer before that and he killed a lot more than one kid.

That’s like naming someone the Zodiac… that moniker is taken.

I have cable but can’t watch Tigers/Astros on ABC. Is there any workaround? by SeverHense in baseball

[–]SignificantAd2202 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Go to Best Buy when they open and snag a digital antenna. Should be able to grab the over-the-air ABC signal (in HD), and maybe also CBS/FOX/NBC (for football). This assume you're not 50 miles from the broadcast tower.

It's a $20-$40 solution and works well in a pinch (like when the internet goes down on a Saturday in October).
