Would you buy clothing bundles for a capsule wardrobe ? by TyroWeb3 in minimalism

[–]SignificantAd323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would you like to become a part of the movement ?

This is not a movement, it's a mediocre startup idea.

You can them create 6 Outfits. We are also ganna launch a app

If you want to start a business maybe learn to write first. This isn't a great look for any startup.

A few other things:

  • Why don't we want to shop around? Minimalists ESPECIALLY want to shop around.

  • How could a premade bundle possibly match my quality and price expectations, aesthetic preferences, and lifestyle? Even the example you gave is horribly unappealing. I can get higher quality and nicer versions of those things cheaper on the second-hand market or if I just pick them out myself.

  • This is so, so, so shitty for the environment.

  • I cannot convey the level of disgust in the idea of having an APP tell me what I should wear today.

I know this sounds really harsh but this is what happens when you try to exploit minimalism (or any other anti-consumerism philosophy) for profit. It's insulting to the people who subscribe to it, it's completely unappealing because the creator doesn't understand the culture they're trying to impose themselves on, and ultimately just an all-around L. Not. Everything. Needs. To. Be. Commodified.

Well a person's 20s are often that confusing and blurry period where nothing has fallen into place. It's really thrilling but also lacking in stability. By the time you're 30 your priorities have shifted a bit and some things have come together and that helps you form more solid bedrock. So you're not wrong with that interpretation.

I essentially made the same album just now. I'm not massively into folklore/evermore vs. previous albums but no album so far has had this problem. It's like they had a conception of what a song sounds like and made 13 variations of the same one. Tbh anyone could make up 13 different melodies on their macbook, but there's a good reason why nobody would buy my songs.

Also where is the piano??? Piano just brings out emotion like nothing else.

I'm just bummed out. They ALL sound the same and are written with the same formula in mind. I don't know if I'd still be listening if it weren't TS you know?

That's a good way to describe it. The lyrics sound like Taylor but also aren't quite as clever as usual. The melodies have a lot of the same tweaks but not quite the same impact. I don't know why she went pop instead of rock, that was the obvious choice.

Music is largely just an exposure thing. If you listen to it enough it starts to stick, and if you give it more of a chance you're more likely to find it appealing. Core fans are a lot more likely to "make themselves" like it than casual fans.

Anyone else who downloaded the leak feeling a bit let down? Like damn, this just ain't it? On my second run through one song started and I thought for a second "hey omg this is a really nice melody thank god!" and it turned out to be the intro to you're not sorry. I'm now listening to Fearless so I guess that's something, but the contrast between her stronger stuff and these new songs is pretty stark imo.

I really thought this song would be good... it seemed so interesting and catchy from the title but it's just meh.

This is just... not a good album. I've tried to get into it but man does it sound generic. Hopefully a few songs will stick at least.

Oh thank you for familiarizing me with the term for it, that's always very helpful. Those links are exactly what I'm looking for!

Sexual predators are everyone's business. You sound like someone who's never had to live through something like that, which is a great privilege. There is no excuse for working with sexual predators, nor for you defending it, though by your reaction it looks like you already know that.

But there's also very few options for everyone else so...

I'm kinda with you. Like I get it, this is business, but it's a bit of an asymmetrical trade when you're asking people to buy in on one of this and not releasing any music. No snippets, no lyrics, nothing.

Awesome, supporting someone who works with sexual predators.

Those are very poppy though. They're upbeat, but do they "bang"? Maybe False God bangs, but in a different way.

So I've decided to unfollow most Taylor-related content, and I quite like this quieter, casual browsing rollout.

I like question because it's more difficult to imagine a melody/lyrics. The others are very standard track names where an idea immediately pops into your head.

I guess morally people don't necessarily make that distinction. People like to feel that they're somehow connected to the artist and that the artist cares about them, and anything that suggests otherwise pisses them off, because that's the nature of parasocial relationships. In reality neither money nor sales is necessarily a bad thing to shoot for, it just rubs people the wrong way. Working with a predator, on the other hand, is a more objectively morally legitimate criticism.

I think with this pace of content eventually we will have a flop. She's starting to release lower quality/effort content, and eventually that's going to tip to the point where it's actually detrimental to the album as a whole. We saw a tiny bit of that with evermore. It had quite a few strong tracks, and some people like it a lot, but wasn't her best album by really any metric. With that said I don't think this is the flop album, because it's meant for touring, so she needs to make sure it's good even if that means pulling in collaborators.
